Don't believe the truth - New Oasis album

Got it last week, and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by it. I didn't have too high expectations on them, but they've proved, to me anyway, that they've still got it.

The album has quite a few non-Oasis sounding tracks, but also a couple of vintage-sounding ones. However, it's the new and fresh ones that stand out, Mucky Fingers and The Importance Of Being Idle, both tracks written and sung by Noel, are superb!

Mylo is crap, sorry to any Oasis fans but its just same old same old.

The original Oasis stuff (well... early to late 90's stuff) is extremley good, 2000+ onwards has been a barrel of ****, then again i say this but i havent listened to half of the tracks on the album, just a handful in HMV :rockman:

Fan Favourite
I've got a hankering for some Sonic Youth.

I think Oasis' decline is simply down to the fact that, unlike many other bands of the era (Blur, etc..) they've never bothered to dip into a different direction. Oasis have always been a rock and roll cover band so, once you've had your fill of them, you don't intend to go back.

Oh, might pick up Teenage Fanclub's new album, too. They can never go crap.

I like this album :)

Mucky Fingers and The Importance Of Being Idle are the best songs like NottsSupporter mentioned but i also like Turn up the sun (vintage Oasis), A Bell Will Ring and Let There Be Love.

Is it just me or does the tune of Part Of The Queue sound really familiar ?

Anyway, I'm definitely not dissapointed. Oasis still have it.

Great album, not their best but it is much better then a lot of the crap on the market.

Funny you should say that Yash, I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out which song Part of the queue sounds like, cause it feels similar to something...but I can't say what.

A Bell will ring sounds a lot better on the album than when they played it at Glastonbury last year, I like it. Meaning of soul has to be the "worst" track, followed by Lyla.

After listening some more, I think that "keep the dream alive" and "guess god thinks I'm able" are two really good songs as well.

The guitar on 'Part of the Queue' is a complete rip-off of "Golden Brown" by The Stranglers. It's still an alright song though.

My favourite on the album is probably 'A Bell Will Ring'. I really like 'Lyla' aswell though...am I the only one? :S

I'm sure if Lyla wasn't the single, people would say it is one of their favourites on the album.

I hate 'The Importance of Being Idle' (:/)

I'm not the biggest fan of the album though to be honest. Yet again I was fooled by Noel. I expected more.

Lyla's a good song, me saying that I think it's the second worst track on the album is more praise of the album than complaining about Lyla.

How can you hate TIOBI.... :(

Yeah fair enough.

I really don't know why I don't like TIOBI. I think if it's a Noel-sung song I take an instant disliking to it, I can imagine me loving it if Liam sang it...although he wouldn't be capable of those high bits.

I just think if Noel ever sings he should keep to a maximum of one song per album. As you can tell, I'm not the biggest fan of his voice. (:/)

well, i have listened to all of the album and i have to say i am pleased.

i love guess god thinks im able, brilliant song imo

lyla is a single in canada, and its grown on me, big fan of it. part of the queue, the importance of being idle, let there be love and a bell will ring sorta round out the rest of my favourite songs. fact is i like pretty much all songs.

this has to be my favourite album since morning glory.
