Download Accelerator Plus

I'd like to hear your opinions on this before downloading.

Are there any problems about adware etc?
Would anyone recommending any other download accelerators?

Theres an alternate download accelerator called GetRight which is far better imo

nah. DAP is better I think and no adware or anything.

and getright dont have multiple connections to the server I think which Dap has.

i use it.... tis got a banner on it, unless you buy the full version... but no other advertising/adaware/spyware stuff that i know of

I'm using DAP for almost 2 years now. Excelent. The best d/l manager.

If you go into CProgram Files\DAP\Ads and delete the files, you don't get the banner...

Yeah you should get DAP. It is very very good for downloading big programs, especially on my 56k. Better than kazaa...

DAP is good.

But it has a popup every time you start it up (or start a download, dont remember) Nothing big, but I ran SpyBot on it, and got rid of it... but then I got a weird message every time I downloaded something. It still let me download, but every time I got a Yes or No question.

I registered it tho, and haven't had problems since.

Might have a go at it myself then. How much does it improve download speeds though?
I use a program at the moment called Shareaza (no spyware or adware) to download Bit Torrent files, my average download speed normally is about 85kb/s, with Shareaza I often get 350kb/s...last time I even went up to 575kb/s for a few minutes!!

I must get it then... I always get ****ty speeds on the original BT client... like 3kbs for the first hour, then if I leave it over night it goes up to 30kbs max

it hasnt really improved my d/l speed at all, for me wif dial up it goes about 5kb/s so it hasnt made hardly any difference at all

It doesnt really speed up your connection, rather it maximises your connection speed i would say...

it speeds up downloads for me (i was downloading xp64 - a 500MB file off microsoft, and it was going @ 100kbps on normal and when i put it on DAP it went @ 500kbps

i find it generally goes faster

Yup Shareaza reads torrent files (www.shareaza.com). It's a bit like KaZaA, as you can also just download files through the program (it connects up to various p2p networks) but it also downloads torrent files and at a much (I mean much!) higher rate than BitTorrent.
I used to only get 10kb/s the most, used to take me ages to download files off there with my DSL connection. With Shareaza I average about 120kb/s on torrent downloads, yesterday I was downloading a torrent file at a constant range between 400kb/s and 550kb/s

I'd downloading a movie at like 400kbs right now.... which is the fastest I've ever downloaded



Where do you get your BT files? suprnova.org?
