Völler and Papin should be definetely iconsView attachment 102212
Sheriff called multiple of them over a month ago. So no reason to doubt this being accurate. Allthough 'Papin' as a HERO feels a bit absurd-
Wonderful work and quite accurate
Only in this forum are there guys who are much better than me. I am barely good enough as an average ratingWonderful work and quite accurate
EA should ask YOU for icons
I am sure there would be interesting choices.
Völler and Papin should be definetely icons
It’s a shame they don’t have this Status
Brolin and Owairan would be interesting choices they were stars of WC 1994
I feel like EA's attitude here is:i think it is more seeing them on a list of names that have the likes of sidney govou and landon donovan on it that make it look hella weird.
Exactly! In fact it pisses me off a lot. For them now they are Icon and Heroes who retired 2-3-4 years ago. They don't have to do anything, they have everyone ready. Donovan no longer knows how to put it on to make Americans "happy". First Icon, then Hero. One of the most overrated players ever. They put Lalas back or they put Tim Howard on if you really want to recycle faces that are already available. or something impactful like Meola, Balboa, McBride, Reyna, Wynalda. At this point it would be even more correct if they put Mia Hamm ...I feel like EA's attitude here is:
- the guy retired? yes
- he got a face in our game? yes
- hero!
Wynalda was a crap as a player, worse than Donovan (who was on the bench in Europe). But he has a value that Donovan can never have. He was the symbol of rebirth and hope for soccer made in the USA. Towards the end of the 1980s, when FIFA awarded the World Cup to the USA for 1994, there was a great uproar and a desire for a rebirth for American football. The man chosen for this renaissance was Wynalda. He was among the most anticipated at the 1990 World Cup (he was 21 years old) and when the 1996 MLS was created, the photo of him with the San José jersey was the media driving force of the league, the business card. It was the flywheel designated by the US federation for the rebirth of soccer. So it's not a question of being strong but of what you have represented for the US football movement. If I had to choose a HERO for US football I say Wynalda because he was designated as the HERO for the US football renaissance. There would have been no Donovan without Wynalda and that generation of Harkes, Murray, Ramos, Balboa, Meola, Caligiuri, Reyna. Those guys were the Apollo 11 of US football.I get why you're frustrated, but Wynalda? Really? Reyna or McBride, I get it, first one played in very good teams, second was scoring goals in Fulham, something that Donovan couldn't do in Everton.
BUT WYNALDA? All respect to him, but besides two seasons in Saarbrucken, he wasn't better player than Landon Donovan. In USMNT, first played 106 matches and scored 34 goals, second played 157 matches scoring 57 goals. On club's side, Landon was king of his own pitch, it was MLS in 2000s, but we talk about Americans.
I'm not talking about Classic Patch, I'm merely challenging the claim that Wynalda was a better player than Donovan.
OK, I understand, it has its justification.Wynalda was a crap as a player, worse than Donovan (who was on the bench in Europe). But he has a value that Donovan can never have. He was the symbol of rebirth and hope for soccer made in the USA. If I remember correctly Lalas gave an OVR of 86. Not even if he fell into the pot of the Asterix potion it would have been that strong XD The values of these players are mega pumped just for a FUT speech. They are hard to find players than the base ones so they make them stronger than they actually were. Many have removed them for no reason, others as a matter of politics (Weah) or a problem with the law (Overmars). Then, I understand the various problems with the rights, in fact there should not be Maradona in FIFA 23, even if on August 7, EA seems to have won the lawsuit for the rights. So it could be there but we know that there are various degrees of appeal and it could maybe be included in an update and not at the beginning of the game. But there is the crucial issue that is causing many to turn up their noses. Many thought that rather than inserting retired players in recent times it would be better not to insert anything. It almost seems like a drag on a situation that is getting out of hand. There has been a major downsizing of the ICON project (then even split in two with the HEROES). Many were hoping there could be a turn to the players of the past as in the old PES. The chance to have the strongest players in football history. Initially the conditions were all there and very good. Then from fifa 18 or fifa 19 they lowered the quality of the choices. They started to use material already available, to propose fewer and fewer top-level players in the history of football. Some time ago on social networks I proposed to take advantage of the fact that the golden ball was managed by FIFA by putting the various winners of the trophy in the game. So room for first choice players like Keegan, Rummenigge, Simonsen, Masopust, Rivera, Muller, Kopa, Belanov, Blochin. In this way they would have given prominence and additional visibility to the trophy within the game. From the likes that I got the idea pleased the users a lot ... But instead we are still here .... and that lacks serious programming. Making classic face packs to add as DLC like in PES wouldn't hurt. Working on projects. example. World Champion Captains DLC. Dunga, Cafu, Cannavaro, Zoff, Maradona, Moore, Beckenbauer, Fritz Walter, Deschamps and others. Or DLC Top goledor of their national teams. Riva, Puskas, Pele, Keane, Drogba, David Villa, Herny, Berbatov, Polster. So to give two simple examplesOK, I understand, it has its justification.
Though I suspect EA Sports also takes into account a player's real-world skills and entire sporting career, as these players need to be rated at least 85. Remember, FUT Heroes goes into FIFA Ultimate Team.
Otherwise we get the likes of Alexi Lalas with an overall rating like Gary Neville had. Still to this day I'm confused why that happened back in FIFA 16. Donovan, I get it, but Lalas?!
For me, those players who disappeared after FIFA 17 when legends became icons should come right back as FUT Heroes. And there were some older players like Paulo Futre and Frank de Boer.
They probably want to dose it up for us though, because we'd lose our minds from the prosperity. /s
You just think with different criteria and that's fine.
Six six six, the number of the beast
