What are your thoughts on Italian football from the 70's Giggi? Do you consider it a pure era for the sport? Or is the play a bit too scrappy for your liking?

It was a slower football and the difference was made by the real skill of the player. There wasn't the exasperated tactics of today. In Italy there was a period of strong defensiveness, there wasn't much entertainment. The fact that the victories brought only 2 points put the teams in a position to do little harm to themselves. The small teams closed up and hoped for a 0-0 draw. It was a slower and more careful football but it still left room for a bit of imagination. Perhaps, not only in Italy, the 70s were the last years in which football was a sport. Shortly thereafter it became a business with the advent of sponsors on the shirts and the increasingly exponential growth of fees

Wonderful words Giggi. I agree with you. Maybe it was the last real football. Different teams that won, Cagliari, Lazio, Turin. It was the football that I still like now, the real one, the not too spectacular one, the almost artistic one. I ask you for some technical information, have you also reconstructed the tactics and field deployment of the teams of this splendid decade in the simulation? Just how did the teams play in real life??

PS, A huge thank you for your hard and passionate work towards these eras.

Yes, I'm based on the players who played the most during the season. Now I'm creating for Sampdoria and despite being the strongest player Suarez is on the bench having only played 8 games I think. The tactics I try to recreate. I have some data but I have to compensate with generic formations. But they are quite similar to real gaming facilities. It must be said that unfortunately FIFA is a tactically stupid game. If in a team a difensive midfielder played as a right winger because the coach did not want to push but rather support the midfield on the wing, the game AI will try to put an attacking winger. This distorts the tactics but there is little I can do.

Mate at this rythm you could complete all 70s seasons for the 5 leagues in 1 month thats crazy
No... You're light years away. As mentioned, for months and months I have been pouring into the database information that I have in paper form collected over a period of 25 years. I also posted photos of my primary sources about two months ago. For the other leagues I have nothing. Here I don't do research on tactics because I have a rough draft of how the team played. By following these tactics I have an idea of the position an unknown player could have. For the other leagues I have none of this. If for an Italian team from the 70s I spend half an hour on the database, for one of its Spanish, German, English and French peers I can also spend half an hour looking for sources to understand if a player was a left back or right back. So the times are significantly longer. YEARS!
