he'll just drop essien.

I don't know what to make of Essien, he hasn't been that bad but didnt they shell out like 34mil for him.Even for chelsea standards thats alot of money.
If he is dropped isn't that quite a failure? I think he deserves a bit more time than just one season.

But he's not winning 50-50s against Premiership defenders. I assume they'll use Crespo for that.
Unless Crespo leaves then that might be an issue. Tevez plays off the main striker similar to how Rooney does; playing him as a target man in the EPL wouldn't work very well.

Meh, a club like Chelsea(even though I don't like them) should be able to field someone with a lot more talent and far less attitude(yes, I know ZLatan's a cock as well, but we're talking about Drogba here).

Mourinho’s Assistant
Drogba is under appreciated.

It’s a shame also; he was the leading player for assists in the Premiership this season and scored 12 goals on top of it, making a very valuable contribution. The only club that over valued him was Marseille, we wanted our man and we got him. Since then he has been abused, etc.

I do not blame him for wanting to leave. A priceless player in terms of the system at Chelsea and doesn’t Mourinho know it. It is a shame so many of the fans are twats and do not know this. If Mourinho wanted to use him another way, Drogba would be blowing the Premiership away. I mean look at how he plays when he is with the Ivory Coast.

van Nistelrooy to Chelsea. Possible but unlikely.

He won't be in England next year unless it's at United or Blackburn.

He's getting older, has had a knee surgury which tacks on 2 years, and has a bad attitude.

He is highly undervalued. I think we will see that if a replacement takes a while to adjust in the early season. But he is ideally suited to a two man partnership up front, and the systems we generally play dont afford him that luxury. That is why he is maligned as wasteful, etc, and why he thrives when the wingers play in close or he has a partner: he can do his thing and leave the finishing to others

Essien is not a failure. Yes he was very pricey, but he is also very good, and indeed very raw. We are targeting Europe next season, and while Essien will be an important player for many years, assuming nothing goes wrong, its obvious that Ballack is an upgrade over him right now

If it were up to me, though, we'd play with 4 across the middle and he would still start, probably on the right

Not really, he's quite short and isn't the strongest. He's skillful, fast, great control all that.

Crespo will be gone, and ive always envisaged Tevez as a Rooney type, not just because of the squat or ugliness. He can hold the ball up from what I have seen, but if we got him, Im almost sure it would mean the end of a 4-3-3 system being the standard. With Drogba, im pretty sure he would kill

completely different attitudes. Zlatan is eccentric from what I gather. Drogba is focused, and he is a complete team player to the last. In that sense, he is mentally a prototypical Mourinho type. What fails him is the inability to stop coddling for fouls and being theatrical. Without that, he would have a nearly flawless attitude.

That is the only reason people hate him. That and he gets the job done

Yea he is a team player just look at the way he celebrates team first self second like at the end of the season when he was celebrating carvalho's goal.
Real Team player!

The only thing you can knock him on is his stupid comment about his diving and cheating

Without him, did Chelsea win 2 titles?

Did you consider the fact that Chelsea's top scorer for their championship seasos was Lampard, a MIDFIELDER?

Drogba is like God here, in Marseille.

Explains why the French league is not even considered in the top 5 leagues of Europe, and why Dinho got out of PSG.

IMO, the Dutch league is slightly stronger than the French league, but it's marginal, I won't debate it here.

Lately only PSV would have a shot at winning the French League. Ajax were awful this year, and Feyenoord have been awful forever. AZ are ok.

The rest of the Dutch League is terrible. Ligue 1 is decent, Lyon are one of the best teams in Europe.

France is in the Top 5 :ewan: Maybe 5th, yeah, but French Ligue 1 is a really good league, there aren't differences as in other leagues.

And Ronaldinho was really crap in Paris... Now he's fantastic but je has never played one full season in France, maybe because of Luis Fernandez who didn't like him. This is not a question with the league level. I can remember 2 or 3 amazing games of Ronnie in France, always against big teams and especially Marseille :nape:He played whith an incredible level, as good as now. So I guess French Ligue 1 isn't a second class league.

Slightly off-topic, but is it true that people didn't really like Ronaldinho in France? Because I heard an Henry interview where he was talking about him and he said something like "you know, he was doing these things in France, but people were responding negatively. They were saying he's not being serious, he's just taking the mickey out of players..."

I thought he was disliked at PSG because he used to flaut the team rules. I remember reading that he would routinely violate curfew and go trolling for chicks before away matchdays despite team imposed hotel curfews

If I heard that one as opposed to the rest of the team was doing that and continued to do so despite diciplinary measures, id be pretty pissed at him too, no matter how much talent he had. Its just disrespectful to the club and, in a way, to the fans
