Ea 'relegating' Sony And Ps2?

that's a thing to wonder about, when u consider that they're talking too much about Xbox and too much about next gen consoles...

I'm a pes fan, but many really smart people expect fifa 2006 to be great...at least when u consider fifastreet and the obvious improvements that ea wants to put in (well...i guess they had a reason for footballapllication mail, right?) the new version...

as many new consoles games, it seems the producers get not that excited and do a half-done job for the 'older' console...

I may have that pessimist expectative...or...

...maybe ea will, as konami for we9, explore the full capac. of dvd for fifa 2006...to make it as close as possible to an xbox version of it...who knows...u tell me...

i was really expecting big for fifa 2006, but seeing it related as one of the brand new titles for xbox 2...hmmm...disappointed me a little...u know...based on my experince on videogaming (good atari times...)

after all...pes (or we9) it is, the main 'player' of ps2, it is like ronaldinho for barcelona, u know what i mean...I myself bought my ps2 a year ago, because of that...

perhaps ea noticed the power of football titles and want to turn fifa into the biggest reason for new xbox buyers to buy it...so...

...that may mean fifa 2006 is gonna be great all the way, all the platforms, cause they couldn't develop a game to a console they're used to(*) and start doing everything fine and allright for a totally 'unknown' by its capabilities, new console.

(*) however...many people say that only now ps2 has got its full potential explored...check the pics and videos for next years games...i mean...only now softhouses are able to work with the full potential of ps2's cpu and dvd games...oh my...I dunno who believe in anymore...

Some interesting points there tinytim, which do make you think of the futre of gaming...
As far as EA and Sony go, i just couldn,t see the benefit for EA games/ sports to disregard Sony.
Especially when most people are antisipating the launch of Sony,s PS3 ( or whatever ) within the next year - 18 months.

I think we all now know that the use of PC,s and online gaming is going to be the way forward. Allowing manufactures to take their games to further limits as computers become faster & more powerfull every year.
So the future of games consoles was always going to head towards a more PC based theme, allowing online gaming , better options & game updates/ patches etc.
Thats why the Xbox is so good and popular... It,s basically a 733Mhz PC with Pentium 3 processor and an NVidia graphics card.
Obviously the PS2 is showing it,s age now and needs to be replaced pretty sooner, rather than later.
But after reading the supposibly spec of the PS3, it looks to be a really good powerfull machine, and obviously more advanced than the now Xbox version1 ( which will probably be updated, shortly before or after Sony,s release ) lol ...

Also to get back to your original topic ...
I feel that EA have just decided to get the most out of their games by giving the Xbox some more attention, and using its full capabilities.
I dunno... We will have to wait and see what happens.. :)

hopefully!!!

I myself am expecting huge on fifa 2006...

dunno if u can get me...but there's a 'smell' an atmosphere that preceeds a good game...and I'm experienced enought to feel it, I guess...

besides, that 'atmosphere' was always felt by me in the case of fifa titles, when I had videos and pics in sight...but now...I got nothing...just the gut-thing that tells me there's good stuff coming through...and most of the times...I don't miss it...hehe

the number of patches for we is ridiculously low if u consider last year's and right after we8's release...I guess people are getting fed up of pes4 a little...not really coz it's bad at all...but...hey...do u drink coke every weekend? sometimes u try pepsi, right? what if pepsi ever tasted better than coke...I mean, really?

and...one year ago, right after fifa 2k4 release...I was a total disbeliever in fifa's new titles...but, dunno...sometime tells me now...it's gonna come...I hope...

I hope you,re right , mate... As i feel the next issue of Fifa will be the make or break, for EA.
Especially with the fact that a lot of old Fifa players ( such as yourself ) have jumped ship to PES after the dissapointment of recent Fifa titles.

I actualy think that Fifa 05 is one of the best fifa releases for a while, as the gameplay & ball physics have been improved, and the movement is a lot smoother than before. Also the First Touch system is a good addition.
In saying that, i feel that EA let the game down ( Especially on PS2 ) With the number of needless flaws in the gameplay.
1. Button Delay
2. Player Freezing
3. AI Decissions.. ( The Defenders will sometimes concede Corners by kicking or heading the ball out, when there was no need )
Even when your analog stick is pointing in the oppersite direction.
4. Set- Pieces ... As well as being poor, could they have found a smaller screen for you to have to operate on? ... LOL
5. Cpu Attacking / Goals, can become too scripted and obvious ...
6. Midfield Doesn,t assist Attack, & operate realisticly.. imo.

But i will admit that some of these only appear in the PS2 version.
And it,s good to see that you have more control over your players..
Plus the Midfield problem has been sorted , in the UCL game. :)

yes, I really jumped from fifa to pes, but that's what happened to like 90% of current pes players...they're slightly, in the deep of their heart expecting ea to do something decent...after all...having all licenses, all logos, etc...it is damn cool...we have to admit...

i guess that fifa beats pes in one major point for me: the gamepace...many people acuse fifa of being arcadeish...but, just pay attention to pes players runs and turns...do u see that in real life? c'mon...

I'm willing to play ucl here, when it comes...then i'll release a full 'dossie' about fifa ucl and forthcoming 2006...it is long, if I really put everything in my mind to this forum window...but I guess that ea really reads this forum (really???) it will refresh my desperate need of say it..
