Editing Best Practices

Hi folks,

I have a question or three on what are consider the best practices/approaches/tools for modding FIFA 15, going forward, based on the assumption that the process would be similar to FIFA 13/14.

I'm looking at creating a classic teams/player patch for FIFA 15. This was largely completed in FIFA 13 using FIFA Creation Master 13, FIFA Master 13 and DB Master 12.

The patch adds approx 700 players and approx 20-30 teams to the DB, along with player graphics (3d models, mini faces, etc), team uniforms, flags and the like.

My questions then are these: given how endlessly laborious that process was using Creation Master 13, can anyone outline a better/faster approach for adding/editing attributes of that many players/teams using other tools?

I'd tried using the Export Tables function to edit in Excel, for example, but could never make that work, with importing always producing errors. While it's early days for FIFA 15 editing tools, I'd appreciate any ideas/guidance that far more experienced modders might be able to offer on how they'd go about this process.

Cheers!

Can anyone give me tips on making these kids of edits within FIFA 15? Fastest way to add that many players?

I tried doing this in Excel. I was able to get it working in older versions but it was unbelievably painful and errors were common. This is a SQL job for sure.

This one is a bit redundant by now (maybe) but I did get this working via Excel and DB Master 15 for export/import. I then use the new CM15 and i68 Control for finalizing edits and saving/rebuilding.

It's not bug proof - sometimes odd things happen, but for the most part, if you're careful with Excel file formatting and keeping hard copies of modding data outside the production files, it's easy enough to create 'restore' points so you can back up to recent DB versions without losing lots of work.

I'm still in the middle of adding 700 or so players and a couple dozen new teams, which is a big undertaking. Life/work has delayed this in recent weeks but it can be done with the above tools. However, if you come up with a SQL tool I'd be happy to test it with/for you. I'm not sure SQL is the way to go (I use such in my work life) but it could be made to work.
