CM 03/04

I want to edit the database (to add players), but I'm not sure how to save the original files (in case I want to revert back to the original settings). Can anyone talk me through it???

u just go on the official editor and at the beginning it tells you.

It does tell you, but not in great detail.


If I browse

CProgram Files\Eidos\CM 03-04\Data\

and save every file in that section, would that be enough, or are there more files to be saved?

Was anyone aware that their are players in the Editing section that don't exist in the game? These are real life players, that for some reason have been left of the game.
For example, Fangnan Kone is a young French/African who in real life plays for Beauvais in the French National league (maybe a youth-team player). I've searched every country in the hope of finding him, but with no luck.
However, I've just searhed the Editing section and found him. Why was he left off the game???

It all depends on what leagues you have selected for which players are available

Try it yourself. Search EVERY league of EVERY country for Fangnan Kone. You won't find him (I've spent hours - even seaching youth teams).
And then search in the Editing section. And there he is???

If you search the Editing section you will find real life internationals (even from the smallest nations - Tonga for example). But they don't exist in the game. In the game, Tonga have a team of made-up names.

then it's most likely the database size you're playing with. I don't know the options for it in any of the CM4s so i may be wrong

Many players are left out in the large database game as well. They are considered too unimportant to have any impact of the enjoyment of the game, while putting a big strain on the CPU to keep them in (as thousands more players are left out the same way).

You can create simple textfiles to keep the players of nations or clubs in the next game you start. You put in one line of code per team or nation, and save them in the DB folder, where the rest of the database is. This has been described to further extend in the "How To" sticky. Look for the posts on .ddt files.
