I am about to lay waste into this team. What was that bull**** I just watched for 90 minutes? I saw players walking, for dear God's sake I SAW WALKING. How could you disrespect the game like that? There was no intensity at all. They played like they didn't want to be there at all. The US didn't deserve a victory or even a tie today. What was Bobby Convey doing on that gotdamn pitch?? I don't think one of his crosses made contact with an American shirt. I saw a lot of flat footed players out there today. Where was Donovan, where was Beasely, show me more Reyna. There was no sense of urgency in this game, they got out there on that field and didn't make runs, didn't find open space, didn't get players in the box.. The performance is more dissapointing than the score. Somebody please hand Eddie Johnson a starting role. He came in the game and at least TRIED. He took SHOTS. Take Convey out of the lineup, drop Donovan back to mid so he gets more touches, and play with some damn PASSION.
Hats off to the Chzecs, you men played a hell of a football game.

That was one of the worst games I've seen this team play.

Bruce Arena stated numerous times before the game that the US team that steps on the field will be a team that all Americans can be proud of.

I'm not proud of the team that stepped on the field today. I don't think anyone is.

you guys were really expecting to beat the czech republic?...i'm joking, but really, they are miles better than the US..

Talent wise? I think the US falls just short of the likes of Baros, Nedva, etc. But as far as attitude goes? Today they were miles better than the US.

Today, I am ashamed to be American. Hands down, this was the sh*tiest display I've seen in the Bruce Arena Era. The passion was missing, and the players were just going through the motions. If we go through the motions against Italy, we're definitely f*cked.

Time to start learning the "Cielito Lindo" Concacaf.

Hopefully T&T will make us proud.
... by scoring, of course.

Today the USA crashed against their reality. Last World Cup they did great because they were the underdogs and didn't have any pressure or responsabilty.

Now in this WC their attitude was different, their mentality said "We're good enough to qualify and beat Czech. Rep", and of course "Now we are going further than last World Cup" ... big mistake.

They played the match with a lot of pressure on against the Czechs, like they were that good. I could see that in Bruce Arena's face.

Yeah, I do agree with your point Dante.
There were too many expectations this time.

But pressure only did half the job, the lack of passion diplayed by some of the players did the rest.
Sure, your tactics are awful, but you still don't let anyone take a shot at your goal in the WC.

They don't know what kind of potential they have. Dear God, they are one of the fastest and best fit nations playing in this tourney. If they would get out there and leave it all on the pitch there's no reason why they shouldn't at the very least be able to tie some of these elite teams. I'm not saying they can beat anybody because they can't yet. But they sure as hell should be able to give these top teams a run for their money, and today I saw them playing like they ******* deserve to win. Yeah right, you're still in the infantile stages of football America. Get out there against Italy and play your asses off because you JUST started getting decent at this sport.

It was because of your high expectations for this bullcrap team. I can't believe you were expecting the U.S to defeat the Czech Republic. Futhermore, your selfhisness is APPARENT by you creating a whole "America" thread. LMAO :ewan:

Please, there is already a thread for that.

just short?? Czech Republic has what is regarded as the best keeper in the world (Cech) (not that he needed to show it today) . Leading their strikeforce is the top scorer of Euro 2004 (Baros), and another striker (Koller) who has scored 46 times in 68 appearences for his country. Nedved not Nedva is regarded as one of the top midfielders in the world, and I'm sure Rosicky will be if he keeps performing like that for the rest of the tourney and also for Arsenal. Add that to other players in the squad like Poborsky,Jankulovski and Galásek and you have an excellent squad. Most of their players play for top european clubs. Now most of the US team is made up of MLS players and some who play for midtable european teams (exception being Beasley). There is no comparison between the two sides and the Czech Republic are superior in every aspect. Also, I wouldn't regard the USA as the fastest or the fittest in the competition. They looked very slow and short of ideas today. The African teams have set the pace in terms of speed the competition so far and we will see how "fast" the USA are when they play Ghana. Personally, i think they will be bottom of the group with 0 points.

I think most people expected Czech Republic to batter U.S.A , everyone except the usa who believe they are 5th best team in the world. rofl.

That's untrue and frankly it's a little racist to say the African teams are the fastest. They really aren't, the fastest teams are probably Brazil and Spain.

However except for you assuming the African teams are fast because they're black, I agree with everything you said. Although I don't like the assumption that just because someone is at a top club means they are world class. As an example Jankulovski played like 3 games this season for AC Milan. Donovan is in MLS by choice because apparantly he gets homesick when he lives abroad.

Wouldn't it be a stereotype, not racist. And yeah they are the fastest, just watch them, their ball speed and pace.

I said African Countries not BLACK countries. If I said that countries are fast because their players are black that would have also included Trinidad and Tobago, which they were clearly not. I have already watched 2 african countries in this world cup and they are both full of speed merchants and watching Ghana, it seems the same factor is present. Please stop twisting my words. Jankulovski has 22 games for AC Milan since 2005 and was a top player for Udinese before that. Landon Donovan was terrible for Bayer Leverkusen, quoted from Wikipedia, "In early 2005, after again failing to perform for Bayer, most notably a dreadful performance in the UEFA Champions League against Liverpool, Donovan stated his intentions to come back to MLS." Basically he couldnt perform at a higher stage, making only 7 appearences for Bayer.
