He was already way past his best in his Madrid years. You should've watched him at Man U during the 1995-2000 seasons.

He certainly isn't "the best playmaker in the world". He couldn't command regular a centre-midfield role with Man Utd when he was there because he simply wasn't their best in that position.

He obviously has talent, but a great degree of his set-piece ability comes through practice. He constantly works on it for hours and hours and it has paid off.
