Can I also just add... David Beckham. I've always like him as a player, a professional, a role model, a father etc. but last night he was the only player to stay back and applaud the fans. It meant a huge deal to me he did this after my friends and I had shelled out £75 each to watch that hollow mockery. So basically from now on he'll be a true hero of mine.

Beckham has always been a hero...i dun care what he does off the pitch but on the pitch he's a great pro and a class act. He would run that extra mile and burst a lung for your team. He's one of the few english players i respect.

And you talk about arrogance. You muppet.

So Croatia beat England while they were at their weakest. Big fu<king deal. Its a shame that your patriotism does not allow you to follow a Croatian team you glory hunting hypocrite. At least in England we all follow a team that actually plays in our country. Some loyal Croatian you are pal.

All that shows me is that the standard of football in Croatia is dog s.h.it. Man even your best players at Wembly PLAY IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE FFS. The same goes for the Irish, Scottish and Welsh players. Playing in the English League is the reason why so many non English players, and their National teams have progressed so well. You would know that if you had a brain.

Maybe we should do ourselves a favour and kick the lot of you out of our country.

Who the fu<k was Bilic until he came to England huh? A fu<king nobody thats who. You thick third world dick.

You dont like the English, but oh yeah, your players are happy to prostitute themselves for English money. Hypocrites.

You have a good run of games and suddenly you tossers think you are Brazil.

Man you are the arrogant one.

You read one article written by one English wanker and suddenly you judge the whole of England by that dick head. It does not surprise me though because as long as you have been on these forums you have always been a prick. I just didn't realise until now just how ignorant you really are.

Modric???? He's another one who cant wait to play in England. He's begging every day to come here. Another prostitute who is happy to take English money.

Fu<king muppet.

oh its not just Celts, its the entire Anglophone world that will enjoy the impartial coverage for the first time at a major tournament since 1994 ... how wonderful it will be!

wait, what? what's that? Martin Tyler will continually moan about England at every chance he gets? Everytime Russia and Croatia play? And also every time a player who is playing, has played, or ever will play in the English Premiership touches the ball? Ah crap! you're right ... :(
Well in the UK you won't hear Tyler commentate at Euro 2008 because the government's laws on listed sporting events mean that only BBC and ITV will be broadcasting the tournament, not Sky.

Therefore as a result for Tyler read John "My voice is so important" Motson, a man so parochial and terribly Anglocentric that it makes me cringe, he's the same, mentioning England in his commentary even when they're not playing, about time the Beeb pensioned him off (well he is about 105 now hehe). :junior:

I was watching Wednesday for Ian Wright's usual post England defeat sulk. Sadly, although he was gutted, he was very honest in his criticism of the whole set-up. Hansen and Stinks of Piss looked like they were at a funeral though :D

My thoughts on England's poor campaign is that the Club > Country argument has filtered through to the majority of the players. I'm sure this weekend you will see those same players put a good deal more effort for their clubs in the Premiership than they did on Wednesday.

This episode may possibly be a great thing long run for England, as a serious effort will be made now to produce home-grown talent. Cappello would be a great appointment as well should they get him.

Says the CANADIAN Man U fan.....hahahahahahahaa.

So tell me mate, were Manchester United nothing until the influx of foreigners into the English leagues? Try thinking a bit more deeply before you post next time muppet.

Some fool has called me a bad loser. Well FOOL, if you had read my posts directly following the defeat at Wembly, you will realise that is not the case at all. I simply do not like hypocrisy and ignorant PLASTIC Nationalism.

I do understand the elation that some fans might feel after beating an English side. That is to be accepted as normal as England IS STILL the yardstick that other National teams measure themselves against. Even the Brazilians admit that.

So whether you like it or not, although we have been crap for so long now, we still hold our heads up, and know for a fact that we are still THE TEAM TO BEAT.

The overboard and rude reaction of one stupid plastic Croatian only goes to prove just how important we are in the scheme of things.

I am not even an proud English nationalist. I personally dont give a crap about England as a country, but I would like to know something. If England is such a sh.it hole, full of arrogant unbearable people, then why does every foreigner who wants to make something of his life want to live here?

Millions flood into this country from all over the World. They find a home, a job, security, monetary handouts and a future. Something that their own country cannot offer them. Now that IS something to be proud of. It's also something that deserves the gratitude of those needy people. Thankfully MOST of our guests in England are appreciative, but some are not.

So why then we are stupid enough to continue welcoming these people into our land, when all they do is critisize and slag off the hand that feeds them? Because this is England. A country that has welcomed the less fortunate people of the World with open arms for as long as anyone cares to remember.

Its not the English who think they are superior at all. It is actually the haters own PERCIEVED and misplaced inferiority that motivates them to be so hateful.

I can live with that because I know the real reasons behind the animosity. Still, I will only take so much before its time to make a stand and put a lid on the hysteria that pours forth.

Its a stupid game of football we are talking about here. It has nothing to do with who's country is better than the others. As soon a some people grow up and put these things into perspective, the better off the whole World will be.

Now thats off my chest, I repeat. Well done Croatia for qualifying.:)

I agree with most of your points for a change, pede, but really, that statement is just not correct. I really like the England NT, and I'd really like to see them at every tournament challenging for the title, but to say that Brazilians have England as THE NT to measure against is not right. We do respect all that England means to football, but for the majority of us, right now England are just another decent side. Unlike France, Italy and some others at the moment.

You have plenty of "superstars" in your side, but they really haven't showed anything away from England. Maybe European countries have England as their yardstick, but not Brazil.

Fu<king muppet.

- Days when I'd be affected by someone calling me a gloryhunter are long gone. Besides, you don't know anything about club football in Croatia so...

- Croatian club football indeed is dog sh*t. But you're wrong about our NT progressing so well thanks to the EPL. Our best players are Ćorluka (this is his first season with City, until the transfer he was in Dinamo Zagreb), Modrić (where does he play?), Niko Kovač (Salzburg), Darijo Srna (Shakhtar Donetsk) and Dudu da Silva (like Ćorluka, it's only his first season in the EPL, until then he was in Croatia), Pletikosa (Spartak Moskva) and the only one who you could make a case for is Niko Kranjčar. He did progress immensely in the EPL, I'll give you that. However, the rest of the team either don't play in England or haven't been there long enough to make serious progress. So don't talk like players automatically get some divine skills the second they step on English soil.

- Nice. Haha.

- Everybody's a nobody until they come to England. And, pede, Third World? Yes, I'm the muppet talking about arrogance.

- Prostitution? Is that what they call working for salary over there? Those hypocrites kicked your team out of EURO and then went on to comment how they are absolutely delighted to do so, because your country's arrogance pissed them off. Among those players were Vedran Ćorluka and Niko Kranjčar, the prostitutes from City and Portsmouth. Some balls on those prostitutes, huh?

- Two corrections: 1. We had an excellent run (if it hadn't been for that awful pitch in Macedonia, we would have finished the group unbeaten), and 2. No, we don't think we're Brazil. As a matter of fact, the players were pretty humble, everyone said that "we're a good team and have the right to expect a good performance in EURO08". Of course there are fans who are already shouting "Euro champions", but those are the ones who are still under the impression of the Wembley game. Nah, we're not Brazil, just delighted to see England off, because what your team has shown throughout these qualifiers is a lack of respect for anyone in the group. Including us who have, THIS TIME AROUND, outclassed you.

- Ok.

- I didn't read one article, I read plenty. I only mentioned one because one in particular really pissed me off. The rest were disappointing, as well. And this is not just me, but the whole of Croatia. During the game, whenever we scored, I could hear people shooting outside. That was a first in these qualifiers and it showed just how much everyone here wanted this win. The game was irrelevant in terms of result, but everyone was confident we'd win and demanded the team to do so. All because of the attitude from England. During the cycle, your team, and media recently as well, treated the rest of the group like we were nothing. That in itself is arrogant and insulting, even more so when you're not top of the group. You could have and should have displayed more respect for your opponents. You'd probably have qualified then.

- Luka is not begging for anything. Several offers, including a very rich one from Donetsk, were turned down last transfer window because he wanted to stay and help Dinamo remain in a European competition. That goal was achieved and only a few days ago he announced he would be leaving. It's only normal for someone of his talent to want to play in a better league and a better team. It's ridiculous to call that guy a prostitute when he decided to stay with his team and help, and rest assured he would have been playing somewhere else right now if he wanted to. They had offers, but turned them down because he cares about Dinamo as well, not just about the money. Luka did what everyone expected of him, he took Dinamo to the group stage of the UEFA cup and now he can leave whenever he wants. It seems he's decided to leave this winter and if he can have his wish fulfilled and play where he wants to play, I'll be happy for him. If it's in England, great. If not, la Liga or Serie A will be great as well.

And for the record, none of my posts were aimed at you. The treatment our team received from England and in England was very disappointing and frustrating and I reacted because I had to vent my anger. I've lost respect for your NT because I consider them to be a bunch of overhyped underperformers, but that has nothing to do with you. I've read your posts here and in the England NT threads and saw nothing wrong with them. The same goes for the rest of the English people here. That's why I never mentioned any of you, but I wanted to say how pissed off me and my fellow countrymen are because of all this.

Personally I hope we don't have to play against your NT in the WC qualifiers because it's a very disappointing experience.

And apart from that mate, next time you meet with us we will kick your arses all the way back to Croatia.

Why not give me some examples of this English arrogance you talk so much about. I don't mean from a journalist here or there because we despise them all as much as everyone does. I am talking about the man in the street, because when you talk about the "ENGLISH", without being specific, then you are directing your comments at ME and every other Englishman who IS NOT represented by our stinking media.

I told you once before NOT to judge an entire race of people upon what you might read in a newspaper article or two, but you disregard this advice and continue to slate England in general anyway. When you do this in a very ignorant and disrespectful way, without being specific, I for one will take it personally.

You say that the England team treated the rest of the group like they were nothing. That is a meaningless statement if you cannot give out proof that the England players did indeed show that attitude. So Where is your proof? I do not recall ONE England player EVER showing any disrespect towards any of our oponants. In fact I clearly remember before the game at Wembly that the players AND the coach actually emphasised what a solid and good team Croatia are, so that crap must be in your head alone mate, because it just never happened.

Also what was this " TREATMENT " that the Croatian team had to endure in England? We have heard nothing negative in that respect, so why don't you enlighten the rest of us huh? If you mean the shoplifting charge bought against Zorislav Srebric, then the guy should know better than to put packs of stationary in his holdall without paying first. If I did that, then I too would be arrested. The guy admitted his mistake and was freed before the game took place. If you are going to travel anywhere in the World, I would advise you not to act like a thief, whoever you might be. According to Srebric himself, the policemen behaved in a correct manner. So where is the problem in that?

As I said before, if you have an inferiority complex about something that is fabricated in your own mind, I suggest you seek medical help, because what you are saying is pure untruth.

Just show me one example of an England player slagging off ANY of the other teams in our group. You can't because it just never happened.

You are a plastic Croatian, and like all good gloryhunters you are riding on the back of a victory that you personally had no hand in. If you cared at all about your National players, then you would enjoy supporting them week in and week out in your own country instead of going to a team that was already successful.

Hence your hollow attempts to show us what a loyal Croatian you are carries no weight at all with me pal. You are a hypocrite and will always be one until you cease glory hunting.

I'm not Canadian, but nice try.

And the reason the Premiership is so good isn't because English players are better than others. It's because you put money into the system. And that's definitely a good thing, I respect it. But for you to say that other countries have "less" talent is absolutely idiotic.

I think its time to knock this thread on the head MR MOD.

It can only get nastier the longer it goes on. I have already crossed swords in here with people that I actually like ( VEDRAN included :)).

Not an enjoyable thread at all. I'm unsubscibing from it and erasing the memory of it.

Sorry if I offended anyone big time , but its a subject that I feel very strongly about. Chill. :)

I don't think people should make a big deal out of the fact that England didn't qualify. When Holland didn't qualify for the 2002 world cup, I don't recall such a big fuss being made. It is disappointing when a so-called big football NT doesn't qualify but the fact is that other teams that are probably considered weaker are actually better than England this year.
IMO, this includes our NT, Croatia, Sweden and Romania..
