Glad to hear James played well..and he's actually been magic the past few games Gaz, go easy son..he got us 3 points away at West Brom and I don't care what you say about their strikers, they were hell good saves.

Interesting to see antithesis saying it was as good as Banks' save, did the Turkish bloke have the same good grace as Pele and applaud him after? Lol I would think not..

And Ljungberg saying Hammers are crap? *cough*glory hunter*cough* ;)

James played blinding for England. I still don't get how he saved that header. It was amazing. James has made too many mistakes though. He has kept plenty of clean sheets lately. Not bad for 17th placed club. :)

Ljungberg, West Ham are not crap. They have under achieved this season. Under Harry Redknapp still, we would easily have been in the top 8 as usual. But Brown is a wanker.

Man the Turkish midfield just stuff it up (Tugay the only exception) they just kept going forward leaving the back exposed, Bulent Korkmaz did Carlos all and made the defense look vulnerable, if it weren't for Rustu England could've had it 5-nil or worse.

Senol Gunes should've worked it out in the break, but if anything Turkey just lost it in the 2nd half. Simply disgraceful.
Kudos to the Poms though, they deserved the win despite that botched penalty decision.

PS: where's Hasan Sas when u need him

I don't support Holland, in fact I love to see them loose so I can poke fun at neighbours/mates etc:D
I support NI but I like watching England coz of the united players.

One day though, Northern Ireland will be a world footballing force...one day:D

I've watched this game, instead of Holland's one versus Moldova, because we were a disgrace to football. Anyway highly entertaining game the England one. England deserved the victory, but it wasn't as good as some of you talk about here. The Turks combined much better and were clearly the more technically gifted team. But England really battled well and had some good combinations to get to the goal. Beckham was kinda below par with his passing, but his workrate was second to none again. Rooney did very well, but I can't understand why the English press is hailing him as the hero of the night. He was good but the whole team did well.

Antithesis is going on about how Scholes and Butt are such wastes of players, which shows again how good he has watched the match, and how much he lets his hate towards ManUtd influence his posts. While I agree with him that Scholes really has to pick up his game, I think Butt was very good again. He's definately the man England need to play between midfield and defence, he wrestles everyone off the ball. He so important in breaking up the oppositions play. All in all a very good performance by England, but let's not get overexcited here, Turkey was quite bad and England's play wasn't that magnificent, they won because of passion and belief.

Last note, I have to agree with everyone who says that the Turks are annoying. They were so "lively" running over to each other when just a minor foul had been committed. They're really a side that can get you all too fired up and get you send off.

HAHA reading through this thread was a lot of fun.
it's amazing how easy Turks get wound up ... whether it's on the pitch or in these forums !!
I had a Turk at my club a few years and he was the same ... he used to get real wound espcially the day France beat Turkey 4-0.

Anyway big win for England !
All the claims about Rooney being overrated have been thrown out of the window now. It would have been great had he scored with that 1st half chance ! the guy is 17 it's first start ... even though at times he might have got a bit carrired away he did well.

I was really glad to see OWEN come off coz he was a disgrace .. I mean he dove twice in the first half ... he looked absolutely pathetic :kader:

Anyway Beck had his usual overrated performance ... wasn't that great... and Emre was a usual prick as ever.

On the other hand great performance by Sol Campbell at the back and Bridge aswell as Gerrard.
I was a bit sad when I was listening to the radio later last night as the guy said "blatent dive by Dyer but who cares" .... I felt a bit upset bout that ... as Dyer obviously just simply slipped or fell over ... it was definitly not a penalty .. but also not a dive by him.

This makes me think of the Ref who was rather bad !!! every clean tackle when players made contact with the ball he would blow for a free kick ... I hate when that happens (to gerrard espcially) culminating with a stupid decision right at the death for the Pen.

Anyway good win ... and no point the TUrks getting all worked up ... cos If England manage to win all their games before playing TUrkey they might need a result over there.

It got a bit heated back there, especially with some of my celtic compatriots being bitter about Englands performance, and the result.

The first 30mins it looked like Turkey were going to win. England looked like they were picking up where they left off on Saturday, all disjointed and unfocussed. The Turks were behaving badly though. Every time and England player sneezed they were surrounding the ref and trying to wind up English players. I thought Beck's yellow was a bit harsh, but he had his hand (whoa, alliteration :o ) in his face and it was probably the right decision.

The Turkish captain was a pain. He did nothing but winge and stir all match and I think he, and some of the other Turkish players, should have been booked for their conduct.

Back to the game, England throughly deserved their victory. Once they started playing as a team Turkey just could not live with them. Turkey looked like they could be dangerous on the counter but the performances of the defenders and Butt stopped them every time.

Rooney played an impressive game and it looks like it's curtains for Heskey if that is a typical Rooney performance. Amazing when you realise that he is 17 and was brushing aside Turkish players as if they weren't there.

I think Scholes played below his average. He did some good things but wasn't involved enough. Becks was below par too.

James' save from the header was top-drawer, but his overall performance was poor imo. Too often he ran out of position and wasn't decisive enough when he went for balls, and even dropping the ball a couple of times narrowly managing to recover.

I'm still umm'ing and arr'ing about Bridge. He looked quite good once he'd settled, but it took him 60mins-70mins to settle. His distribution wasn't up to standard too often, but it might just be that he is bedding in. I don't think he's good enough to take Ashley Cole's spot in the team, but he's a good back-up for him.

The pen, wasn't a pen, but there were 2 occasions when a Turkish player handled the ball when it would have been a goal and they got away with it. Whether that makes the decision any more right is another matter but it evened itself out. I don't think Dyer dived though I think he just fell over. Owen dived a lot. There was the one incident where he handled the ball, and he was lucky that that free-kick was given otherwise he would have been booked because he tried to perform the most blatent and worst dive I have ever seen.

England looked more dangerous when Owen went off and Vassell came on. They seemed to gel more as a team then.

Good performance.

Rustu is up there with the best of them but Oliver Kahn is the best, some of the saves he makes are out of this world, but Rustu isn't far behind... Perhaps if he joined a bigger club team then he could become the World #1 That's down to him though :|

That one handed save from the Vassel shot was incredible, couple of good stops off Beckham freekicks :)
(H) (H) It´s my fault i´m so sorry about this!!!!
