if you want a right footed player playing on the left, cutting in then i'd go for kieron dyer.

I'd play 5 in the midfield and 1 striker and 4 in the back. But I'm nutz. I'd push Beckham in the middle, play Dyer to his right , in the Middle , Gerrard, to his immediate Left Frank Lampard and then Wayne Bridge wide left w/ A. Cole at Left Back.

yes, but the possibility of Pennant becoming a Mcmananam and to be groomed on the left side would be soooo good. Pires is getting old (hes 29 i think?) and while England play Pennant on the left for all their friendlies etc., by the time Pires goes down in performance, Pennant will come in and take over.

And sometimes Pires has those out of form spells, then sometimes he's the best player on earth, really a toss up.

I'd play JP on the left for england.

and Pires cannot defend, which causes everyone to critisize Cole's defensive jobs (if he had some support down the left he would be fiiiine)

Pennant is young, and hes more likely to listen to Wenger about defending

Or JP once he gets a few more games. Rooney showed what he can do, but that was against Liechtenstein. I think Sven will start him, alongside Heskey.

I agree with you there and have said that since I saw Joe Cole's debut for England. Although he has scored one good goal since I noticed that he squandered posession needlessly when a simple pass is all that was needed.

I still say give Gareth Barry a go, he played down the left for England a few years ago, and he's still young (22ish I believe). He's been very good for Villa.

hasn't sven said something like joe cole needs to stop showing off on the field? i remember reading about that...everytime cole has the ball, he's always looking to impress and doesn't know when to pass.

anyways, i bet you sven will go with the diamond formation with butt in the holding role, beckham on the right, gerrard on the left, and scholes on top.

and yes...barry deserves a chance.
