ESPN Basketball 2005

Anybody else played this game yet ? I don`t know why it got some bad reviews compared to NBA Live 2005 by EA, in my opinion, the animation of the moves and the variety is a lot better. And the block shots attributes is much more tweaked so it would be harder to block shots now, unlike in last year where I can put a record of 45 blocks on Superstar level :|:|:| The only thing it lacks is the crowd atmosphere, they`re so silent compared to NBA Live 2005.

Yeah, I really like this game. I also like how when you get a big lead the computer actually still lets you drain the threes if they're good shots, not some crappy computer assistance like Live is prone to do.

My Sonics franchise of Ginobli, Allen, and Lewis put up 99 in a 5 minute quarters game. Man, that was a fun one. Good game though, I really enjoy it.

Another thing I don`t like is that I can`t play more than one team in the franchise mode. Makes it harder to trade players between teams, but I think that`s where the challenge is.

I play the Wolves. Signed Malone on a free agent status, at least he`ll get a ring in the virtual world :D(Y), traded Wally Scer"whatever"biak for Odom. The CPU Lakers are ****. They`re at the bottom at their division, and have the worst win-lose record after the Bobcats.

I was wondering whether or not ESPN NFL 2005 (if that's the name of the game) is any better than EA's Madden 2005?

Yeah, but I'm too poor to pay $50 a piece for a game, when I can download and update it for free if I play it on my computer.

okay

I played Madden 2004 and really enjoyed the game. Got NFL 2K5 about 7 Months later. My opinion, it was tough for me to transition. I was just so used to the layout and controlling scheme. It's technically basic changes in the button layout, but having only played a Madden game when it came to football games, it was an unpleasant change. The play schemes seemed unoriginal, not varied enough and seemed the same from team to team. I just didn't give it a chance though due to my stubborness. I gave it a chance again about a month ago and really stuck it through thick and thin. Now I feel the game is definitely better than Madden. The variety of moves and types of runs you can pull off is quite amazing and look amazingly free flowing, more so than Madden '04. The moves are always varied due to the situation, nullifying that repetive feeling of seeing the same move work in the same manner. They really added some great animations especially in the way and manner you are tackled and dragged down like in real life. Presentation is very TV like, which is very welcoming, with lively commentary to bat, no more stale Madden comments of the obvious. Two thumbs up there in my department, ha, nothing against the guy of course. Anyway. The play schemes add a lot more variety once you learn how to really play and search the playbook. It was great to bust out a flea-flicker on a 1st and 10 after I had been just trouncing the CPU with my run game one time and suddenly busted out the flea, very rewarding feeling to see that baby come down for the big TD! Overall, the game is fun and seems more realistic from where I am sitting when I play the game. It's a great purchase for a LOT of goodies. Basically, I really enjoy the game and will continue playing it for a long while. Great game though.

I just got ESPN NBA 2k5 and I must say it is awesome.

Full Authority mode is great when I cbf playing, and I love playing 2on2 street mode as a team with a friend, taking one player each.

Best basketball I have ever played, bags of fun, feels great when you hit a nice jumper and the graphics and animations are better then NBA Live, let alone the gameplay.

International teams?

Can you play with international squads in ESPN Basketball. Can you even do so in NBA Live?

I've owned NBA 2K5 for a long time now and I don't think I've every played on it more than 20 minutes it just doesn't take me in like Live does.

Yes, I must agree with you...I've been really trying to like NBA 2k5 over the last couple of weeks and I seriously cannot be attracted to playing it more than one game...I just like NBA Live 2005 a lot more, maybe because it is just much more fast paced, or because dribbling seems to be easier...I don't know...What I do like is that shooting is a bit more difficult in Live than it is in 2k5, the only thing that annoys me with Live is the behind the glass shots, they should seriously remove that...Although I do believe that the graphics in 2k5 are much better, I like the gameplay of Live a lot more. I do respect all the opinions of others, and I appreciate everyone's comments and advice, but I think I will stick to Live for now...

Oops, my bad, I thought I was responding to my other thread...didn't see that this was the NBA 2k5 thread...sorry
