Well that would make sense of course wouldn't it. There's a reason they show only whole numbers on the board. There's no point in stoppage time if the reff can just decide to stop the game at any single point as soon as the clock goes into the last minute. There's no reason for giving out how much stoppage time there is in a game then.

I dunno, but in IMO, i think Portugal's style of play changed after Miguel was subsituted.

I honestly don't know what Scolari was thinking not subbing Pauletta as soon as the second half started.

What did that fruit Pauletta do in this tounament?? Let me count how many goals he scored, hang on..

*scratches his head*

let's see....

Oh thats right, I FORGOT! ABSOLUTELY NONE!

anyone see a trend?? :(

Scolari was brave enough to make five changes in the team. Every guy apart from Pauleta, did very very well and was clearly the right choice. He made all the right substitutions as well. Scolari was almost perfect in this tournament. Why did he leave Pauleta in front?

Here's my conspiracy theory. He did it either because :

1) He believe Pauleta will come good and score
2) He's using Pauleta as bait, distracting central defenders so they become lax and they won't defend him as much. This will provide more space for the others to score?

it doesn't make sense. You should always put a threat. Pauleta let the team down in my opinion.

yes the ref might have tried to screw us in the end but so what... we didn't lose the game because of that.

Naw it was because Pauleta has been the best portuguese player for the past 2 years, with an incredible goal scoring ratio. He had another brilliant season with PSG.

But he was indeed a big bunch of dog sh*t in this tournament no doubt about that.

And if he doesn't score his utility is close to none because he isn't a forward that opens play to other players and create his own plays, he's just a finisher.

i dunno, but quite honestly as a coach it your responsibility to bench players who are not performing up to par - and quite frankly, Pauletta was one of them.

IMO, if we had a striker like Vieri then i wouldn't be bitching, but its annoying when i keep hearing form people that 'Oh don't worry, tonight is Pauletta's night, he'll score tonight for sure"

ya right... how many times have we said that again?? thats what i thought.

But props goes out to the Greece defense, they allowed no room for any offensive plays.

Well done.

i think they should have utilised number two more....... greece played man marking, and had gomes come on for deco for example, and there had been two strikers, they could have really cleared out the defense for figo/rui costa etc when running at the goal

Greece deserved to win....Portugal were absolute crap...they disgusted me. After the semi final lineup was set, I said to my cousins that a Portugal-Greece final would be a boring headache giving match. Well, I woke up today(the day of the final) with a headache and watching the game did not make anything better. It definitely was not the kinda ending that EURO 2004 was looking/hoping for but I still have to say congratulations to Greece. They did not bow out like South Korea and Turkey did at the same stage in the World Cup and they deserve credit for it.

This is an image of downtown Toronto from a restaurant where my cousins had gone to watch the game. Several blocks of the neighbourhood had to be shut down AGAIN and will not be opened for hours.

Congrats to the Greeks, this will have to go down as one of the greatest acheivments in football history. The kept to their tactic during the entire tournament and wether you like it or not, the result speaks for itself. I'm happy that two European champions (Fysass & Seitaridis) will be wearing Portuguese club kits this coming season. :)

About Portugal, while I'm deeply dissapointed in the result I have nothing negative to say about our team right now. I'm sure in a few days I will probably point out what I thought could have been different, but at the present time we fans and the players should feel nothing but pride right now. We acheived out first major final despite a few bumps along the way, supported the team as a nation, we hosted a great tournament, built magnificent stadiums we can enjoy for years to come, and we will always have a bright future ahead of us. Hold your heads high boys, we've earned it.

Looking forward to WC qualifying and the club season ahead, hopefully we can continue our club success and see a Portuguese team in another final again soon..

ORGULHO LUSITANO! :clapwap:
