Based on how Madrid has been playing this season, they don't deserve that 2nd place. I hope they lose it, like last season when they went down to fourth.

Go Getafe.

Madrid has not showed any great football this season. Maybe some of the earlier Luxemburgo games, but most of the games madrid didn't play well...

that's why madrid doesn't deserve anything..

I hope villarreal gets 2nd, Espanyol 3rd or 4th...

we deserve what we have. are you gonna say Madrid has had so many lucky games they shouldve been lower? i guess Barcelona dominated in each game they played this year...

Ok, let's analyze the situation..

Real Madrid actually had a chance, they had to win every game or almost, the first one was Getafe, noobs in Primera División, and they couldn't even get a draw.. it's kind of pathetic.

10 matches left, 11 points + the match between Barça and Madrid if Real Madrid don't beat Barça by 4 goals at the Bernabeu, what it's very unlikely, so it's 12. In 10 games Barça can lose 3 games (the same number that Barça have lost so far in La Liga after 28 matches) and draw another one. That if Real Madrid win every game until the end of the season.

All this + Barça only playing La Liga make me believe that La Liga is virtually 'blaugrana'.

Visca el Barça!!!!

I think that could be disasterous for the rest of La Liga. If they manage to finish second or third, Madrid could be in for a few more years of galacticos and the bloated egos that go with them. That means more mediocrity, more half assed performances, and more jersey-sale-motivated transfers. If, however, they finish 5th, 6th or worse, the fans and the organization could finally come to their senses, kick out all the worthless stars, get more workers like Solari and Graveson, re-spanicize the team with the likes of Reyes or Del Horno, and it would literally be the dawn of a new era, one not to the liking of the rest of Spain, and especially, Barca.

Yeah, the league is virtually won.

TheBlue - they're gonna come to their senses either way. 2 yrs without a title will have an effect on them.

Imagine the CL without them... fingers crossed.

Betis would be better.

Now Depor in La Coruna. It's gonna be difficult, perhaps the hardest match left this season. I was worried about it but now that we've increased the gap, it's all good. Even if we lose, it's no tragedy. And we're lucky to have Madrid as our chasers, because if there was a team in good form, we'd have to be worried. This way, if we lose, chances are that Madrid will do the same. I mean, Getafe...

Yeah, if Getafe beat Madrid even Malaga B can beat em, so anyone can beat em, i'm glad we dont have Valencia or Depor chasing us. :)

Getade is not and easy stadium. It very difficlut to win there.

We won there but just because Valdés had an impressive day.

Actually all the small stadiums are very complicated for the big teams due to the lack of motivation and it's all very uncomfortable. However, if La Liga depends of that match, you MUST win and there's no excuse. Real Madrid didn't give their best to beat Getafe when the match was quite decisive for their options in La Liga.

Yeah, i agree with you there DT, well it should be interesting when Madrid and Barca play, if we win it will be the final blow.

Ronaldinho and Eto'o, dressing room leaders

There are just a few minutes to go before the teams walk out onto the pitch, and a highly concentrated Eto'o yells "the league starts today" Ronaldinho, meanwhile, does not stop shouting words of encouragement. They are the leaders in the dressing room.

The Cameroonian and Brazilian are two natural leaders, and are the two players that do the most to egg on their teammates before the match. They are both highly motivated, and this is also evident on the field of play, where Ronaldinho was particularly active yesterday, while Eto'o was a s determined as ever, although against Bilbao, lady luck was not on his side.

Ronaldinho, who had already shown that he reencountered his form, delighted the fans with some incredible individual moves. The first, a tremendous pass to Giuly after 15 minutes, was then played on to Eto'o by the Frenchman, but the African player of the year failed to stick the ball into the back of the Basque net.

Neither the Cameroon international nor his teammates let their heads drop and kept pushing forward in search of the win. And so it was that Deco grabbed Barça's first, with Giuly adding the second shortly later. The latter was the product of a marvellous Ronaldinho assist. We saw the Brazilian at his very best in the first half, playing in the centre of the park and distributing lethal balls into the danger area.

Deco and goals from rebounds

Against Athletic, Anderson da Souza, 'Deco', scored his tenth official goal wearing a Barcelona shirt, but what not many people have noticed is that half of these were scored from rebounds. Four of these five goals from rebounds were scored in the league.

The first was at Montjuic as Barça took all the points from the Espanyol match (Barça have always won when Deco has scored). Against Racing Santander, in game 20, the Portuguese star converted a rebound off Moratón, although this was not as crucial goal as many of his others, as his side was already winning 2-0 at the time. On February 19, at the Nou Camp and against Mallorca, Deco scored twice, the first coming off Eto'o's body, to whom the referee awarded the goal. Finally, in the Champions League, Deco also scored from a rebound, against Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donestk in the group stage.

Caution

Frank Rijkaard prefers to speak of taking each game as it comes, but he knew that this weekends game was going to be important, because it was one of the major hurdles ahead of the visit to Madrid in round 31. With the awkward challenge of the Basque side out of the way, FC Barcelona now have two more games ahead of them in which they will, in theory, have to face more difficult opposition than Real Madrid. Next week, Barcelona travel to la Coruña, while Madrid entertain Malaga. A week after that Barça welcome Betis while Madrid will be travelling to Albacete.

Only injured players at Nou Camp

After beating Athletic Club, Rijkaard and his staff decided to give the players two days' holiday, time to wind down after a fortnight in which there have been big games played midweek too. With most of the team enjoying a well-earned rest, only the injured players appeared at the Nou Camp, especially Motta and Edmílson. Larsson and Gabri also showed their faces at FC Barcelona's facilities.

===========================

An interesting fact how barca has won every time when Deco has scored, should put him in ST. hehehe :)
