Man you must be really confident about the Bayern game?

Anyway the second half was a bit better from Barca and somehow Guddy scored, the least likely person to do it too. Thuram was lucky to finish the second half, that elbow on Bellamy should have been his second yellow. Either way you guys played too calm and took too long to get into the match.

Mate, I am not confident. Playing Bayern away is never easy and we can't find the back of the net, among other things. We should have finished them off at home but Capello was satisfied after the first half and made the side taqke their foot off the gas, that's why we messed up. Maybe next year.

Do you guys regard Rijkaard as one of the top managers? For some reason, I don't. Whenever he plays against a team with a tactical mastermind, he always struggles but the individual efforts of his team's stars seem to save the day to cover up his f*ck ups.
We could say that Barça is out for the individual mistakes in the first leg as well.

Rijkaard doesn't have an easy job. Barça has to win and the team have to play attractive football. He won the CL and la Liga with that. The so called "masterminds" don't play attractive football and they've not won as much as Rijkaard in the last 3 years.

Lately mastermind means your team plays like **** but they still win the game. Nobody understand how they can win so all the credit goes to the coach. I don't share that opinion.

Brilliant first half by Liverpool. It's been a gift for every team to face Barça lately, but that doesn't take any merit from the reds.
I'm not down since I wasn't expecting too much from Barça, just waiting not to be trashed (which we were close to), but part of the second half was bright, and best of all you could see clearly which has been the problem. It's not the line-ups it's not the tactics, it's the condition and the focus of the players. I did not care when we let Liverpool take the control in the first half, what was disappointing was the overall slowness of the team, giving away aerial balls, Xavi and Deco taking tons of seconds to turn easies traps of the ball and potential counter atacks to lost balls, Messi playing like he has never played on wet turf ...

Bright side, this has a solution, and Udinese coach pointed it some months ago while in a stage in Barcelona: They ain't doing nothing in training.

i can only applud the team for the second half performance, but what I saw in the first half was terrible.... Messi kept falling down, roanldhino kept giving the ball away... Eto did nothing.. If they had played like the 2ncd half, I think things would of turned out differently

Anyway, congrats to liverpool , I hope you take the CL. Your the team that i most admire who are still in the cl race.

We now have to focus on la liga and copa del rey, and we have to stop loosing games away which we are having a bit of trouble with, because its either a tie or loss!

we will be back next year :D Vamos barca!

en las buenas y en las malas!

Agree so much, we should have finished them off at home but ******* Capello made sure that did not happen.

I have to say I've always thought Barca as a club to be a bit arrogant, but I definitely have a new found affection for them to go with my admiration of their football following tonight, as their fans were magnificent, and anything but arrogant.

They established a great rapport with us in the Main Stand; at half time one of them got a flag out saying 'Mourinho you're just a f*cking translator' to some laughs from our lot, and when the steward went to kick him out we all booed, so he let him off and we cheered. There was loads of banter going across but all very friendly indeed.

They got behind their team fantastically well, bouncing and singing and twirling their scarves, respected YNWA at the start and were thoroughly magnanimous in defeat in a way of which we pride ourselves on being. They gave a rousing round of applause and a big cheer for our final belting out of YNWA at the end of the game, despite having just had to swallow the fact that their team had just been knocked out of Europe.

And they were still singing proudly when many people had left the stadium, as well as joining in some mutual appreciation singing 'Liverpool' in response to our 'Barca'.

Well done to the traveling Barca 'hooliganes', and bueno suerte for the rest of the season...

(Y) Class.

For me, Liverpool has always been the class of England. I feel less pain having lost to them, as my support goes to them whenever they play (except against us of course:()

You guys expected a 100% Messi and Eto'o?? jaja, no that will come much later...Tiempo al tiempo

No but people expected more, more so from Messi who has played somewhat and had a different injury than Eto'o did. Either way Benitez outcoached FR in this match, it always seemed like Lpool had 2 players on whichever Barca player had the ball. Left no room for them to do anything with it and they moved the ball quickly. It was also not a great idea to play the 3-4-3...Oleguer was horrible and Messi/Dinho had no support when 2 Lpool players would close them down.

You do realize that Liverpool could have ended the first half 2 or 3-0 right? You are out because Liverpool played better than you guy's did over two legs. You got the goal but it was too late in the game when you guys did it.

i disagree, we could have been 2 or 3 up on the first half of the fisrt leg and we miss on that for the same reasons liverpool miss on the second leg; we played much better the first leg but liverpool won on 2 stupid errors by us, the first leg we could have seal that game if we would been more accurate just like liverpool on the first half of the second leg like you mention; can you see the irony? we played better the first leg and they won and they played better the second leg and we won, hey but thats football :) ; i say again we are out on a tecnical rule cause we won that second game; you may disagree but i still consider this series was a tie on all senses. :) ;

btw congrats to liverpool, its has come natural by now to barca beeing eliminated by english clubs hehe lol

anyone count how many times our players slipped? especially messi! i was screaming the whole team, none of them could stay on their feet. i think the reason we were playing so slow in the first half is that everytime we started to increase the tempo, everyone would just start slipping while doing their quick turns. it was also impossible for them to trap the ball for some reason...so frustrating!

quite disappointed, but life goes on. we're still in great position to win la liga and in the semi-finals of the copa del rey. it's so sad, we're in strong position to complete a double this season and people are calling our season a disaster. die hard barca fans in other forums are saying it's time for rijkaard to go. where's the support? name me one other team whose season would be considered "disastrous" if they won the league and cup? we need to stop holding ourselves to such high standards and just accept that we can't win them all, but that doesn't make us any worse of a team.

visca el barca!!

i totally agree mate ; hell i wouldnt consider those who want rijkaard out die hard barca fans tought ; it would be plain stupid to let go rijkaard; our season disastrous? mmm what?!!!! ; well compared to our past seasons for some yes; but thats just the thing , i think barca fans are badly misslead, im very proud of our team and how they are still fighting their way given all the problems we had thruw out the season, i would consider atletico madrid a disastrous season (H)

Valdes played much better than the last game, ignoring the big mistake. The whole match I was thinking: "Why the hell is Ronaldinho playing center and Eto'o the right wing. That's just not right". Really with a better tactic and luck it could've been ours for the taking, but what happened has happened and we just need to move on and concentrate on La Liga. As long as we don't fail in it the season isn't a failure.

I always like o rub it in when you guys lose big games. I love it. Now, my beloved Madrid loses and part of me feels like showing up here so you guys can laugh at me. Go ahead! We deserve it. What an idiotic showing by us. Seeing Diarra, Gago & Emerson in the lineup said it all. Caps' tactics are so outdated. We should have taken care of Bayern in Spain by 5-1 or 5-2 but Caps was happy with the scoreline and decided to defend it....then comes Van Bommel, that Kunt! Anyway, great game by Bayern, totally deserving since they had more balls than us. On to El Clasico! Do or die for Caps. Part of me wants to get trounced by you in order to throw Caps out in June, or earlier. We'll see.

hey did any of you guys see the arsenal vs psv game yesterday? omg, Alex from PSV is such a beast!!! I hadn't seen him play before yesterday, but based on that performance, I would think he could solve a lot of our defensive problems. He single-handedly neutralized the entire Arsenal attack! Him and Puyol playing CB together would be quite a sight, I think. Too bad Chelsea "owns" him or whatever it is.
