Barça Set To Hijack Chivu's Inter Move

FC Barcelona have made a last-ditch bid to sign Christian Chivu from under Inter's nose and Roma would prefer him to move to the Catalan giants.

The Blaugrana have been tracking the Romanian international for several months as they look to bolster their defence during the summer.

Despite reports that Chivu had agreed to Inter's proposal, Barça still believe that they can tempt him to change his mind and move to Camp Nou, according to a report on TGcom.

The website, owned by Silvio Berlusconi, states that the indecision of the player over a move to the San Siro came after he heard about the intested from Frank Rijkaard.

Barça would be able to meet his wage demands of around €4m-per-year and could promise him a regular place in the newly revamped side next term.

Roma were keen to keep hold of one of the prize assets, but were only able to offer €2.5m-per-year.

That proposal led to the former Ajax centre-back looking for a new club after the finale of the Serie A season.

and who says he will , the same thing was said when the season started but hee played a lot of games for us, tutu still has some juice on him but we cant deny he isnt getting any younger, his golden generation has pass and gone,if we do get chivu i think the real waste would be to put thuram in the lineup and bench chivu, tutu could still be very useful for us, but somebody has to go to the bench

btw, personally i think we cant still get somebody better than chivu.

Sure I think we are leading the league, have beat you this season and drew against you as well + We have been playing spirited, as a group and better than the rest the 2nd half of the season...not to mention we don't have someone in the locker room like etoo causing problems, etc... He's not worth that money which Roma wants for him. Fortunetly, there are clubs in the world, which are stupid enough to spend 13 million and even give two players in exchange.

One good thing about Chivu is that he is an all-round good player, he has some good attacking skills (passing, first touch, creativity) altough being a centre defender, which fits in the Barcelona mentallity.
