FA Cup has lost it's magic?

So, I rememeber as a kid, I used to get really excited for FA Cup fixtures. I was always a football fan that would watch any match. And especially if there was a chance of a giant killing. Those were the stuff of memories back in the day.

So, I'm sitting here, looking after my daughter and watching Everton vs. Carlisle. I won't spoil the result, but what I will say is.................for some reason I don't care.

Now this used to be the type of game where if Carlisle won, I'd get all excited, talk about it with my friends and generally care about. But now, I don't give a damn.

If Everton were to lose, I feel like the club and the board wouldn't be that bothered. If Everton win, it's what's expected. The FA Cup only seems to mean anything to a club when they get to the quarters or semi finals.

So my question is, has the FA Cup lost it's magic for you guys? Cause right now I'd rather be watching a Premier League match.

The only thing I still really like about it is getting to see young/new players who don't start league games get to play for 90 minutes, like Iheanacho yesterday

But I'm sure fans of lower league teams still love it (when they reach 3rd round) and it must be nice for fans of clubs like villa to actually be in a final of something. Also it's about the only football left you can still watch live on the BBC

It depends. If Leicester or Man City won the league it'd be bittersweet, if Tottenham won it'd be sickening. I'd take the league over the FA Cup though.

Of course you would, but if you won FA cup and lost league by one point you would always wonder what would have happened if you hadn't had to play all those cup games

Is it safe to say the FA Cup is probably more prestigious to us than it is the other "big" teams given our history with it?

Haha no it's because you don't win anything else - as soon as you win a couple of league titles again and maybe a cl you won't give a shit about FA cup anymore

What I like about it is that smaller clubs can win something on the big stage like Portsmouth and Wigan did a few years ago. But yes, FA Cup is not as exciting to watch. The bigger clubs don't seem to care about this trophy anymore.

Lots of games that could go either way and are hard to predict - Chelsea vs City, Crystal Palace vs Tottenham, Shrewsbury vs Man Utd....
