Stadium ban for Besiktas
Tuesday, 23 November 2004
Besiktas JK must play their next three Turkish Superleague home matches behind closed doors following the killing of a fan at the Inönü stadium in Istanbul last weekend.
Sanction
The Turkish Football Association decided to impose the sanction after 16-year-old Cihat Aktas was stabbed to death when fighting broke out among Besiktas fans during half-time of Sunday's game against Rizespor. This decision means that the Inönü stadium will be empty for the matches against Istanbulspor AS, Akçaabat Sebatspor and Malatyaspor.
ugly, ugly stuff, it's time for europe to get it's act together and stop the violence once and for all at soccer games, enough is enough. there is no reason any fan should have a weapon at any sporting event, and security needs to stop fights before they get this far. Besiktas should play out the rest of the season behind closed doors not just three games.
