Fantastic/Dissapointing Seasons for players?

mufc_daddy

Starting XI
Well the season is nearly over, so who had a a great season and who had a bad season??

Here are my suggestions

Good Season

Ruud (43 goals and still counting. how can you say thats not a good season?)

Veron - played well in Europe and played well in the league compared to his first season

Shearer - As always
Henry - Fantastic all round play
Geremi
Pires
Ronaldo
Raul
Zola - still got it
Kewell
Rooney
Scholes
Roy Makaay - Another dutch top scorer in another tough league
Duff - where will he be next season?

Dissapointing season

Nicky Butt - Injured alot, hardly saw him play

Riquelme - hasn't really filled Rivaldos boots since joining Barca

Pascal Cygan - Had big shoes to fill in replacing Adams as the new Arsenal centre back

Diego Tristan
Hugo Viana
Titus Bramble
Rivaldo - hasnt really adapted to the Italian gameplay style
Robbie Keane - did well at the start but then got injured
Massimo Maccarone - Played well at the beginning but fizzled out after a while
Owen - should have scored more goals
Riise - wasnt as exciting as he was last year[

A candidate for most disappointing this season for me would definitely have to be Kevin Phillips.

Sunderland have always hugely relied on his goals to win games and when he couldnt find his form, Sunderland had very few little people to look at to take over his goalscoring.

His future with the England international team also look bleak not only due to his disappointing performances but also with the emergence of players like Rooney.

The Legend
Good:

Thierry Henry: Carried Arsenal most of the season.

Ashley Cole: He has been Arsenal's lone soild player at the back, with Campbell getting suspeneded.

Paul Scholes: THE Best player in the Man Utd side.

Alan Shearer: This goes without comment

Brad Friedel: He's been a brick wall.

Bad:

Dennis Bergkamp: What happened?

Kevin Phillips (and his over rated strike partner Tore Andre Flo): I think they have a total of 9 goals.

Pascal Cygan: But hey, how are you going to replace Tony Adams?

The Entire Spurs Team (except Keller): They started off Hot, led the league at one point, then went back to normal, Keller was good tho.

Lots more

I fully agree with Elber. But Ballack?

Of course he played a bad CL, like the whole team, but it was his first year. He's a key player yet.

Pleasing:
Carrick - Most consistant midfielder
Di Canio - Ability to change a game for the best
Kanoute - Love him.
Defoe - Done well for an inexperienced striker with no support.
James - A few howlers at the beginning, back to international level at his best.

Dissapointed:
Breen - Pfft
Daily - Who?
Di Canio - Attitude
Terence Brown - Wanker of a chairman for not leaving us

he's simply not as good as he used to be with leverkusen. He's still not giving his 100 %, even though Bayern depend on him. Overall, im pretty disappointed, hopefully a better Ballack next season.

I don't think Veron can really be delighted about his performances this season.

In Europe he has his moments, but domestically he is still mediocre at most times.

At £28.1 million you expect great stuff and most importantly, consistency. He still hasn't got that.

If he isn't sold in the summer he'll have another year trying to achieve that. Consistency is what make players great.

If Boro sign another forward like Phillips or someone i can see him going back to Italy.

I definitely have to agree with you there. It's been two seasons, and while Seba had a good run in the CL this year, he needs to be consistently good overall, I wonder what we could get for him?

Man Utd will definitely not get anything near what they paid for Veron if they were to sell him.

If they could get £20 million it would be very fortunate. The best scenario would be to use him as a part exchange bargaining tool.

I would of said Ronaldo for the first part of the season....but he has really come into his own now and shut alot of people up recently...Real will struggle badly without him in Turin if he doesn't play.

How would you rate Forlans season?

O'Shea had a cracker.

I was dissapointed every time i saw Trezeguet this year. But he has had a injury problem.

Forlan has improved from last year but can still improve a lot.

As I've already said, he needs time on the ball, something that the English league does not allow.

When he's allowed to pass the ball, he's brilliant, and he has a good turn of pace (but not raw pace).

He needs to get a good first touch and be more aware of what's happening around him. He also has to develop a higher upper body strength. He needs to score more goals. Get into the positions and convert his chances.

Couldn't agree more, although he did get a couple of goals on Saturday against Spurs

McLaren will give him until January 2004, and if he hasn't improved his game by then, then he'll let him go for the right fee
