A story from Sport that Alexis Sánchez angrily confronted Gerardo Martino following the Copa del Rey loss and refused to collect his 2nd place medal picked up some transaction over social media yesterday. Well, Alexis has come out and refused all such class. Not a user of social media himself, the Chilean had his agent Fernando Felichevich tweet out the following.

“Having just finished speaking with Alexis, he asked me to flatly deny the story of his altercation with FC Barcelona’s manager. In more than a 10 year career [Alexis] has never had a problem with any of his manager. Alexis did not confront his manager, much less insult him. He has always had an exemplary attitude.”

I think it's disrespectful to reject the medal like that. If it were a matter of him being a very driven player who can't handle defeat it'd be one thing (but still disrespectful and stupid), but if this a matter of not being happy with not starting then he should fuck off. Don't put yourself ahead of the team, don't make it easier for the media to destabilize your team. There are players who would kill for the opportunity to play the cup final, go and take your fucking medal. And while I don't give a shit about the Spanish royalty, the fucking king was handing out the medal, go take it.

I agree that Alexis should've started but he's being a petulant child.

Totally agree, I think that was a very selfish decision by Alexis, and that's not the kind of thing I'd see him doing. And the problems with Tata should have nothing in common with going upstairs and taking a medal.

Barça will be able to sign players this summer. FIFA announced that “FC Barcelona appeal granted suspensive effect”

FIFA said in a statement: "The club FC Barcelona has lodged an appeal before the FIFA Appeal Committee against the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee that sanctioned the club for breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18. Together with the appeal, the club requested that its appeal be granted suspensive effect.

"In this respect, the chairman of the FIFA Appeal Committee, Larry Mussenden, took into consideration the sanctions imposed against the club, the complexity of the matter, the start date of the next registration period – 1 July 2014 – and the fact that the FIFA Appeal Committee does not seem in a position to take a decision on the main issue early enough so that an eventual appeal of the club against its decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport would still be decided before the beginning of the next registration period. Consequently, the chairman of the FIFA Appeal Committee considered that the appeal lodged by the club is to be granted suspensive effect.

"In view of the foregoing, the chairman of the FIFA Appeal Committee assures that proper and adequate appeal proceedings will take place and, at the same time, that all rights of the club will be respected."
