Cuadrado only played 2 games as a RB this season. I think we need a more defensive player on that position, someone like Ivanovic for example. Our best games in recent years were with Alves in his best form and Abidal on the left. We already have Jordi Alba.

For the defensive sideback, the role Abidal and Puyol played in specific games, we have Bartra on the right and (hopeful) Laporte on the left.

Cuadrado has played as wingback in the 3-5-2 many times, which is similar to Barças 4-3-3 because in ball possession our fullbacks are like wingers and the DM keep position between CBs.

I'd put last year's Lahm ahead of Ivanovic and Alves, with the two latter at the same level; Alves is much better coming forward than Ivanovic, but Ivanovic is better defensively and at set pieces.

Alves can't cross for shit and most of what he does is play a simple apss back to someone who can do something with the ball. He's better at it than Ivanovic, but he is not so much better than Bran whereas Bran is much better than him in most other aspects. Lahm is much better than both.
