I don't think Sir_Didier_Drogba and nady have watched more than 10 matches of Rakitic.

I have seen him mostly for Croatia probably where he is not surrounded by the players that he is at Barcelona.

He's fine, I know he's fine, but my belief and premise is that every club, every season, needs to be looking to upgrade and improve their first eleven (and squad of 25) from what it was the season before, even if it won everything the season before. When clubs don't, when they believe that everything is perfect and they rest on their laurels, they inevitably fall back. This happened to Barcelona (and Chelsea btw) last season and has happened to innumerate clubs before. Looking at that Barcelona first 11, there is not much you can improve, many of the players are among the best in the world if not the very best in the world in their positions. You cannot say this is the case for Rakitic. There ARE better centre midfield partners for Iniesta than Rakitic out there. A club like Barcelona should be on a never ending quest for the perfect team and needs to think like this.

Even Iniesta can / should be replaced already.

What?! Come on Iniesta is bald and old and is past his best. He is still a very good player though but this is an area that can be improved. I am not saying it should be improved. It certainly can.

I rate Rakitic higher than all the guys Shifty mentioned. In my opinion the few players that can improve that position are either not for sale (e.g Modric, Verratti) or demanding a huge, unjustified fee and salary (Pogba, who I'm still not sure would stick in so well).

Rakitic adapted fast. I remember Arnau talking shit about him in the summer, and changing his opinion 4 rounds into the season.

Iniesta is 32. Not much left in him at the highest level. Pogba or Modric, Vidal, Ozil. But unfortunately you can't get any of them at the moment. You could get Pogba if you paid at least 75m for Neymar. Pogba would be the only realistic option, really.

All those players wouldn't improve Iniesta atm (Only Pogba but on a long period because he is young). Modric will be 31 in a month.

Ozil could work with Rakitic but it's impossible to get him, just like Modric.

Yes, if Andre Gomes improves significantly by the time Iniesta isn't at the top level anymore, this would be ideal. I hope he gets playing time.
