Both goals could've been dealt better by the Goal Keeper IMO. The first one was completely unacceptable. How can you let someone score with such a crazy angle? Second goal was not easy to save but Valdes could've done a better job with that. He hardly moved.

Too bad Barca doesn't have a great keeper.

No, he really hasn't. Valdés is backed up by the greatest defence in the World: Barça's attack. Teams hardly ever get on goal, and when they do, they have to go through Piqué and company before getting to Valdés. Valdés is neither the God Barça fans make of him nor the piece of crap every body else does. Although "every body else" seems to be closer.

I don't think of him as God in between the post (that's clearly Szczesny!), but he is a very good keeper. He practically kept them from conceding the second goal in Paris 2006 and saved them against Chelsea in 2009. For him to have been at Barça even longer than Zubi was does speak for his talent. Some may claim it's 'cause he's Catalan but so was Oleguer and that didn't keep him.

Valdes should have never been beaten by that effort, but he tried to anticipate the cross, had he got the ball he would be praised.

I thought Messi looked way out of sort, Iniesta and Xavi looked a bit lost sometimes (probably because Messi got bored in the second half and was out of play for some time, which left them on their own).

I really don't think anyone had a terrible game really, Arsenal just surprised us again in the last half hour. They looked great last night, and it was no shame losing to them.

Abidal is looking in great form, and Puyol should be back in the second leg to cover for Pique.

I think we will have the opportunity win the tie, but lets hope our finishing doesn't let us down.

Should be a great game(Y)

The only reason you are backing him up is because he is "catalan" and thats ridiculous.

Thats pointless, Oleguer its also Catalan and he is in Ajax. If you watch Barça matches more ofter you'll notice how brilliant V.V is.

I think he is "good" or even "very good" but certainly not "great" especially if you compare him with his team mates. He is definitely the weakest link in your team.

No words have written about Keita? I(and thousands of people) think he is the worst player in Barca.
when he replaced Villa you could see it. he doesn't help the ball possesion and then Xavi must play as "2 Midfielders". he doesn't help to the defense and every time he gets the ball he pass it backwards.

I don't understand why Pep so like him, he and Maxwell are the worst players in the team, and the best examples are the 2-2 last year at the emirates and the 3-1 at the San Siro.

My preference to the 2nd leg is that Pep will play with Fontas. even playing with Valdes at the defense is better tham Maxwell at left(with all the empty places that he gives to Walcott in free).

Pep need to take chances in the next matches to Fontas, it seems that the young players are not playing enough.

My 11 for the 2nd leg:
Valdes
Alves,Puyol,Fontas,Abidal
Xavi,Sergi,Andres
Pedro,Messi,Villa

Valdes is obviously a good keeper, but come on bro, there's a reason Casillas starts for Spain and it's not Madrid favoritism.

True that.

Iker is the best goalkeeper in Spain, but for the last few years, Valdes has been getting better. He's a great keeper for us. He has saved us many times, he's great when an attacker gets one-on-one against him, he's saved those chances countless times. And those are the most usual good scoring chances teams get against us - quick counters, ending in a one-on-one. For some other team, he wouldn't be as good, as his skills in some other departments aren't as impressive. That was visible in the match against Arsenal. And we all now Valdes has had a habit of making a blunder of a seemingly easy situation every now and again. It doesn't happen as often as it used to, anymore, but sadly, it still happens.

Hmm...I don't feel comfortable with Abidal on the wing. Seeing as how Walcott easily torched Maxwell on the counter-attack.

That's the point, Abidal is more of a defensive leftback, whereas Maxwell is an attacking one. Abidal would've probably been a better match against Walcott, but I don't know if it's better to have him on the right, or keep the central defense strong, instead of throwing in Fontas or whoever.

Banned - Playing with Fire
IMO, the problem wasn't Walcott. Probably one of his worst matches in the recent weeks. The danger came from Fab - Wilshere and also Song who provided some great passes aswell. Also, Arshavin came with a plus for his team.

Agree, Keita is our worst player, but I disagree about Maxwell. Great LB in offense, decent in defence.

Valdés was one of our most consistent players in the past seasons. People forget Henry's chances in Paris. Arsenal could've been 1-0 up in 2' and 2-0 in the 2nd half, without Valdés' help. He saved us so many times at Stamford Bridge and also last year. Come on he did one mistake in last 3 years. Casillas made much more mistakes, but I still consider him best spanish GK and definitely best GK in the world.
