-----------------------------------------

This is an english forum, even most of the portuguese members of the board can't read our language, so here's a short translation:

There's a division in our home football: the era Before Mourinho and the era after Mourinho. All that is BM seems like very far away now and its importance will always be compared to the achievements of FCP on the past 2 seasons.

Hopefully this will mean new and better managers, following Mourinho's steps. I mean, if our future managers don't know who to emulate, if they don't take this chance, then we'd better pack our stuff and leave.
It's time for the Quinito's, the Vítor Manueles and such to fossilize!

i agree, Infesta.

In Portugal we are starting to see those coaches with the Mourinho mold, for ex. Vitor Pontes, Carvalhal and the guy from Academica, i think Carlo Alberto Pereira

Very interesting fact here-Beira-Mar in recent seasons have been the team that have taken the most points away from Porto followed by Belenenses. (H)

Good exhibition, i think we deserved to win the game but the most important thing in tonight's game is that i saw some nice plays from our players and some good attacking football with no direct passes like in Del Neri era... now i hope Fernandez have watched how's the condition of our team cause we need to have a real TEAM very soon to play the official matches.

you should offer the rtp comentator an adjectives dictionary... it's a bit repetitive listening to "excelente" all 90 minutes in every single play porto does...

Hugo Leal was average, Diego wasn't that brilliant too but made 2 or 3 nice plays... ATM is difficult to tell how the players are since it was their first official match with the FCP shirt... ;)

It's quite soon to tell, but I'm willing to give a shot here to and make some appreciations on some new players of Porto:

Firstly Quaresma, who was way too greedy with the ball today. He made some great moves, opened some good spaces ahead of him to allow the PLC's to gain positions for shots, but he released the ball always a bit too late.
Pepe was great today. I'm not completely convinced by him, but he's making me have a better impression after every game he plays.
Hugo Leal needs to work on the physical side. It's obvious, and I won't risk saying if he is a good or a bad signing already.
Diego: This kid is going to be something! He's training with the team only for a few days, and he made some good stuff today already. He reminds me so much the Deco kind of stuff. The way he covers the ball with his body, the way he runs, and the way his feet move when releasing the ball for a short or a long pass. He's still very "immature tactically", but I have great expectations for him (and I saw a lot of Santos games in the past ;) ).
Giourkas: Great acceleration and recovery speed. He knows how to progress in the field. But he still needs to know his defence companions better. He gave too much space today for the LW's of Pana...
Rossato: It's the best "reinforcement" IMO so far. He's a super complete player and I can bet he's going to be much more important to Porto during the season than most of the people expect.

Well, it's just my 2 cents anyway...

PS:Can someone please teach Cesar Peixoto how to cross a ball?? He has everything to be a star, but only if he learns how to make crosses!!

Yea thanks for the report.

Did Carlos Alberto do a Flip-Flap btw? In about the 20th minute.

Was Diego good alongside Maniche? They're both very aware players :p

Yep, Carlos Alberto made an incredible dribbling (in about the 20th minute). It reminded me of the one Ronaldinho Gaucho makes in the Nike commercial )Portugal vs Brazil). Carlos A. was great in the start, but faded away in the game and eventually became too greedy with the ball:P

Diego played alongside Maniche, and it was notorious that when Deigo came in, the back midfielders (like Costinha and Maniche) weren't attacking so much. Probably because they realised that Diego is still too "fresh" in the team, and doens't know how to compensate in defending (like Deco did that so well!!). So they probably became more defensive and let Diego build the attacking moves by himself :)

Sounds good, anychance of the clip from Carlos? Sounds real good.

And I really really hope Diego fits in well. You've really got a good midfield with people like Quaresma Diego Maniche and Costinha. N for that matter, a good team with other people like Valente and Alberto. Nice one ;)

great game by both sides, Seitaridis looks to be earning his money at Porto all the best to both teams in Europe this year

Boavista should be stoped from playing in the Superliga, it is a menace to every player from the other teams! Jaime Pacheco should be a "boxe" coach, not a football one!! :f***:
