few questions for the nerd in all of you

hi. i've been playing cm for several months but don't hang around forums much, so my knowledge is defficient. yet i wanted to know something you may have an answer to :

-can a player die? if so ... who has died in your games ?

... i had other questions which have slipped my mind right now... so for now, maybe this can be my question super thread !

They can retire due to an injury, but not because they die. At the end of their career they retire, and may or may not continue as coach/scout/physio.

I have my suspicions as to Sir Alex Ferguson's sudden disappearance. The 62-year old just stopped being in charge at Man Utd. suddenly without any notice.

And since then, his profile's been unclickable.

i thought as much... it would also be frustrating to buy a player heaps of money and have him hit by a combine harvester..

however, are we, the coaches, immortal ? is there an age when the comp says... OK. time for you to retire. go grow old by the riviera... ?

as from when can i try to contact a player as his contract expires ? i'm on cm4 0203 mind you, and i just wondered how, when i could know its possible to get a player on free transfer for his club hasn't offered a new contract yet..?

1st: I wouldn't know. Haven't gotten to that point.
2nd: 6 months before the expiry date, you can approach the player and offer him a new contract.

Yea that happened in my Bray game, no notice of his retirement or anything

I've seen this happen in one of the older games. My Cousin sold Schmichel from Utd to Fiorentina for £10m. 6 months later he died in a car crash

Yeh same here, i bought diego forlan for 500k on my Halifax game, biggest signing i ever had....he died of testicular cancer

-what is meant by 'transfer windows closing' ? i am barely native english and this expression remains a mystery to me, especially since i don't play cm in english.

-i'm on cm 0203. i'm following the following youth players for next season.

isaac osbourne. yes ?
bloudek. yes ?
ducasse. yes ?

i've heard you raving about some of those kids on 0304, but would you approve of them on a 0203 basis ?


-stars behind names. some people told me it reveals player importance in the squad. others told me it's the ones supportersl like best. what's the truth in that ? and has it been known to happen to have several stars behind a name ?
