Hey guy, I just noticed your last spamming post on Sweetpatch site in your generous "section" of the site:

if you don't have, as it's since months, nothing to write about your work and you love to spam all over the most important Fifa website it's not a problem for me, you can post each day, as you do, something like "nk will make your sexual power greater" and "next version will feature real lifes of players outside the field", posting Rooney goals videos instead of concrete news on your "work", but stop posting spams about CEP related stuff and the efforts of real editors as Fifaccitiu, Rinaldo on REALLY working on fifa gameplay and dynamics: don't put CEP on your spamming activity on "NK site" as I don't with your everlasting "work" on ini files: please for the future take your words for you and your work, ok? Thanks.

You used a lot of my V6. I think that makes it entitled for me to post about it. It's not like it has nothing to do with me. I wouldn’t post about any other patch or update and never downgraded the efforts of any other editor.

Think about that before you start talking to others in a rude manor. I wasn't degrading the CEP or your effort, and it is my opinion that field size doesn't affect the gameplay in a way which enhances the experience, I said 'believes' not 'is' or 'this is', unlike you in your post explaining to everyone that it IS because of pitch size, which I think is wrong and NOT a fact. I think playing style plays a big part of the gameplay and some people can read the scripts. Scripted gameplay in my opinion does not come down to pitch size. Sorry if you don’t agree.

Maybe you have misunderstood me, but either way you should show others more respect as I do in my work where I clearly write all credit to you for CEP, I don't see any mention of use of V6 in your update, plus you said it had nothing to do with my gameplay when it obviously has since I spent over a month testing different values, which are clearly more creative than basic numbers. It doesn’t matter if you edit an ini file or a stadium, editing is editing and people spend their time on it and add to the community. If you think my work is so insignificant as to not be mentioned, then don't use it. You obviously look down on it and believe that you’re only a FIFA ™ editor if you make a stadium or a program. You should be more open minded.

I think it is you who needs to stop been ignorant then get a stick up your ass when I have an opinion that doesn't favour something you have "created".

CEP is obviously a brilliant update for FIFA 06, and all credit to you for it and others who have helped create it and build upon it. But like I said it all starts off somewhere, something small, an idea. I'm sorry that editing gameplay doesn't expand as far as an external program to install kits or faces, but I do put in a lot of effort in my work and that is why I have a "section" over at Sweetpatch.

Now if you can’t grow up and except that it is just my opinion and get on with it then that will be fine. There are people who enjoy the update, and that’s who you should be responding too, not taking your time having a go at me because it didn’t help towards my playing style.

And yes ‘Evolution’ will enhance your sexual drive. Ockham, you need to stop been so rude to people.

Thank you,
NK.

New Intensity breathes life into game

After a while of trying out new intensity values I've found a combination unlike others I have created. The new file, I think makes the CPU try out different ways of scoring. I've seen Ronaldo try skills I haven't seen the CPU do before and lobbing the ball through defences at different times, when before I hadn't seen this kind of play from a CPU team. This is what I wanted, more variation. It's not a new game, but it's certainly updating the way FIFA ™ 06 plays.

I just played a game as Man-U vs the CPU team Real Madrid for 16 mins, World class. Lost 2-1. I felt as though the CPU were on and off with the pressure, unlike in the past where they just seem to try and attack all the time, they played around with the ball more, even passing back to the keeper and the crosses they did into my box were much more diverse, although this could also be down to the CPU tuning and updated ball physics. It's all updated, hence it's an update!! :jap:

There's only so much you can do with an update, but I think this is the best one. FIFA ™ Evolution still has no release, there's more than 1 update in the exe so I'm sure it'll satisfy gamers to know they have choice. There's a lot of different players' will different styles out there.

This is exciting!

I'm starting to feel more and more excited about Evolution. Just played as England v Brazil on World Class for 16 minutes, lost 1-0. And look at these results! The defence was so tight and difficult to break. I hope this wasn't a one off, which is why I will keep testing. Great game.

A text editor (eg. Notepad) is all you really need (unless you want to get clever). Create a file called USER.INI in your FIFA 06 program files directory (the same folder you'll find CONFIG.DAT) and any parameters that you add to that file will override those supplied by the CONFIG.DAT and INI.BIG versions of the INI files. You can read those two files using a text editor too, just don't attempt to update them that way (for that you'd need a tool like File Master 06 that understands the structure of the wrapper). The only thing to watch out for is section headers (lines with a name enclosed in square brackets) as you'll need to replicate those sections in your USER.INI in order for the parameters to take effect. Just as a f'rinstance, here is the contents of my USER.INI:
Code:
// Enable CPU controlled substitutions
DO_CPU_SUB = 1
// Disable EA Sports splash and initial video
VIDEO = 0

[CAREER]

// team chemistry
// TEAMCHEM_MORALE_X = 0.0
// TEAMCHEM_MORALE_X_S11 = 0.8
// TEAMCHEM_MORALE_X_SUB = 0.2
// TEAMCHEM_MORALE_X_RES = 0.0

// TEAMCHEM_GP_X = 0.0
// TEAMCHEM_GP_X_S11 = 0.8
// TEAMCHEM_GP_X_SUB = 0.2
// TEAMCHEM_GP_X_RES = 0.0

// TEAMCHEM_TEAM_X = 1.0

// TEAMCHEM_KNOWLEDGELOSS_X = 0.02
// TEAMCHEM_KNOWLEDGELOSS_Y = 0.06

// TEAMCHEM_BONUS_EXPERIENCE_THRESHOLD_0 = 3
// TEAMCHEM_BONUS_EXPERIENCE_THRESHOLD_1 = 5
// TEAMCHEM_BONUS_EXPERIENCE_THRESHOLD_2 = 7

// TEAMCHEM_BONUS_0 = 0
// TEAMCHEM_BONUS_1 = 0
// TEAMCHEM_BONUS_2 = 0

// TEAMCHEM_BONUS_EXPERIENCE_THRESHOLD = 95
The career parameters are all commented out, because I've finished messing with the team chemistry values whilst trying to figure out how it all worked, but the principle applies. Without the [CAREER] line those parameters would not take effect. However, most of the AI-related parameters are not within a section, so that may not represent an issue.

One other thing to be wary of is that not all the parameters in the supplied .INI files are actually read by the code, so you may spend ages tweaking a value that has no effect. If you have a hex editor then you can scan the .EXE file for the parameter name, although that is still not a guarantee that the value is used.

True to a degree, but some of us are inveterate fiddlers and using the USER.INI technique it is a trivial matter to undo any changes that cause problems. If the fellow would like to fiddle, who are we to discourage him, after all I'm sure that the likes of NK, Ockham, Biggy et al started out that way :)

You can explore config.dat and ini.big with tue BigGUI utility (you can easily find it googling) then you have to export these files:

ai.ini (in config.dat and in ini.big, same file duplicated) -> game dynamics, physics, general settings, engine tweaks etc.
cpudiff.ini (in ini.big) -> game difficulty divided by level (amatuer, semi-pro, pro, wc)

Each line contains a value that determinates something in the game, the value are very very self-explainatory (i.e. GAME_SPEED, GAME_GRAVITY etc. etc.) and has numerical entries: just modify as you want with a notepad, you can use the // at the beginning of a line to comment. After the modifications save your ini files and reimport them with the BigGUI inside their original file. If BigGUI doesn't work with your ini.big file use FileMaster by Rinaldo.

Thanks guys! I have another question: In Fifa 06 which differences must have the gameplay for CEP?

Just edit the ai.ini attached in CEP config.dat and ini.big. The needed strings are those related to career.ini.

But why bother when you can do it all in an external .INI file without messing with the wrappers?? Is there some reason that you are aware of why an external USER.INI is not a good idea??

I'm not sure the user.ini values overrides all the strings present in ai.ini and cpudiff.ini frankly, but I think not.

Okay, and I'm not sure that they don't :) In fact, every parameter that I've tried to specify that way has taken, but I rarely fiddle with the gameplay related stuff so it may just be that I've not attempted to change a parameter that is not supported via that route.

However, I would be surprised if there were any restrictions on which parameters can come from which source. It looks to me as if the program simply reads a fixed set of .INI files in a fixed order from a fixed set of locations - ini.big and ini_pc.big (from data\cmn) then config.dat followed by common.ini, ai.ini, sku.ini, product.ini, locale.ini, career.ini, player.ini, situation.ini and user.ini (in that order) - with the last reference to any particular parameter taking precedence over any earlier values. I would suspect that it processes the .INI entries in the wrapper files in the same order, but I found out a couple of interesting things whilst researching this further.

Firstly, if an explicit .INI file is not found in the root of the FIFA 06 program files directory then the game tries to open it from the root of the 'FIFA 06' directory in the 'My Documents' structure (which makes sense on an XP system where the program files directories may have restricted access rights on them). This has the rather nice side effect that if you have multiple users running the game then each can have their own tweaks to the game's parameters without affecting the others.

Secondly, there are .INI files processed after USER.INI starting with GUI.INI (which is handled the same as all the other individual .INI files) then cfg_def.ini from data\cmn (and when that isn't found, from data\cmn within the 'FIFA 06' directory in the 'My Documents' structure) and cfg_pc_h.ini from data\cmn (I guess that could also be _m or _l depending on your system, and since it is found I don't know if the game also looks in the 'My Documents' structure for that one). Strangely, the cfg_ files are actually processed twice, and I've no idea what that is about.

I'm going to experiment further to see if I can prove whether or not any particular parameter can be specified in any location, but that may take me a while (and I'm off playing cricket for most of the rest of the day, so it won't happen today). More later ;)
