i am an in between fifa/we fan. i got my first copy of winning eleven back in january and it is superb. after selling back my copy of fifa 2005 for we8 international i was sceptical of whether or not i should get fifa 06. i didn't really like the demo when it came out. it took me one day of playing it to delete that off my computer. so i went to get fifa 06 anyways because what would my year be like without going out to buy the latest copy of fifa (it's a drug). i guess i need some counseling. anyways after being only able to play one game at a time due to a freezing bug after quitting or ending games recently i have been play a lot of fifa 06. it is a vast improvement over fifa 05. i am actually loving every minute of the game (i loved fifa 05 for the first couple of weeks too until it got boring we will see how long i play this one). this game has actually kept me from playing we8. hopefully ea keeps up the improvement for the future games.

BTW good to see that Konami is actually doing som advertising on tv...which they didnt 2 years ago...I also keep hearing from various sources that PES forum is getting bigger.

Facking hell you must be the biggest fanboy ever, yeah in my opinion PES is waaaaay ahead of FIFA but I still gave the new FIFA a try just too make sure it hadn't caught up.

Well if FIFA had made a better game than PES 5 surely i would have known by now. I mean PES 4 was 2 years ahead of FIFA they will never catch up and im delighted.

If you abide by that statement, you will never know if FIFA has a better game. You are not being realistic, I am 200% sure that sometime in the future, FIFA will be a better game than PES. They have all the resources, all they need to do is get out there and do it.

if they cant do that then what is the point. EA has always had the resources, but have they ever made a great game for any genre. Any game that is from a different developer that is based on the same thing, is always better than EA's version. There is no excuse for that.

A few examples below

Madden vs 2K series, 2K series always comes out on top and has since it was born in 2000................until EA just buys exclusive rights, those pansies are afraid of competition, you know that thing that helps the consumer, also funny how Madden 06 was the lowest ranked madden in the past five years. Even in the old 16-bit days I thought Madden was crap. The SEGA Sports games have always been better, I loved the Joe Montana Football's on the Genesis.

NBA Live vs NBA 2K, I'm sorry but even NBA street is better than live and 2K spanks it by miles

EA Nascar vs the old Nascar Racing by Papyrus, As always guess which game was more arcade like, yup the EA one. This is also another example of EA buying exclusive rights. Now the only Nascar game in town is the crap EA gives us. Nascar 06 with its total team control, how realistic was that supposed to be EA, yup I see drivers somehow switch from their car to a teammates in the blink of an eye all the time.

MVP Baseball vs MLB 2K series, I wont even begin on this one since it is a crap sport, but I hear the 2K one is more fun.

EA Cricket vs Brian Lara Cricket, another sport I do not like and don't play, but I always hear how Brian Lara Cricket is much better

EA NHL vs 2K NHL, yup every review says it, the most realistic NHL experience you can get is............................................the 2K NHL's

EA is no good for the gaming industry. They buy all competition out. Yes your simple soul might like fifa06, but if ea wasnt such a money hungry company we would have seen more soccer games on the market and maybe even at a higher level, than what fifa and pes are now. (I remembered back in the days with so many soccergames too choose from) But people kept buying ea's crappy games, because they saw on telly and made them this huge company they are now

Oh, and if the others are not better than the EA versions, then ask EA why they bought exclusive rights to the NFL license and the ESPN rights. Surely that was a sign of weakness, was it not? Eliminate competition to force your game as the best since it is the only one. The jokes on EA since Madden 06 is one of the lowest ranked Maddens ever. They did what we all knew they would do, didnt improve the game. Moving forward, I bet you didnt know EA tried to gain exclusive rights to the NBA. Hmmm I wonder why, maybe for the same reason they bought the NFL rights, eliminate competition and reclaim your spot as king. Difference, is that the NBA was smart enough to tell EA to shove it where the sun doesnt shine. Did you know they opted to buy the MLB rights too? This one is even more funny though as 2K Sports Interactive ended up with it. Since they are not Monopolistic like EA, their deal says that first party devs can still makes MLB games, just not third party devs like EA. A company that thinks they need the exclusive rights to every sport, is a company that is showing signs of weakness and defeat.

Deftones has a point. yes i have been playing fifa recently and some bits of it i like having been playing winning eleven 9 for a few months, fifa is still way off.

But deftones is spot on about EA's mantle. It relies on buying official rights to games to shift copies to the public rather than it being an enjoyable game.

EA figures if theres a big polish fan, who say supports Amika, he will naturally go out and buy fifa before Pes before he has the ability to play as his favourite team, which is nice but the player isnt getting the benefit of playing the better game its all for looks.

madden and nba live have been around for so long and many people play them more so they have a much higher standard than nba2k and nfl2k. So the reviews on them are not as accurate. i don't know anybody who actually thinks nfl2k is better than madden. Madden is a religion.

Um it would be the exact opposite as to what you said. When a new game for the same sport is released, they expect it to be better than the game that gives very little improvment each year. If it is worse than the game that has been around for a long time, they are not going to be easy on it. They will score it lower than the other game and make comments such as, don't waste your time with this, buy "name of game" instead. Also the reviews are fully accurate as each new generation, sports games make a drastic engine change and become a new game. So you would have to start with Madden 2001 and NFL 2K1, which are both existed at that point in time.

Oddly enough, I don't know anyone who likes madden more than 2K, but I do know people who like the EA NCAA football games, then again, they are better than madden is, just like NBA street is better than NBA live

Madden is just a name, just like $ony is a name. Example, the Xbox is much more powerful than the PS2 yet people still buy the PS2, say its the best, and treat it like its a religion.............................all because of the name

I have both games and i gotta say they really tried too hard on Fifa06 and they just got too many things wrong.....I dont want to go into detail but i will say its not even close to the WE series at the mo....
