Fifa 07 in widescreen?

It looks like it is working to a certain degree. The .ini file is changing resolutions in the game BUT it does not make the game "widescreen". By that I mean it stretches the screen instead of adapting for the widescreen resolution.

I tried adding this to the code "WIDESCREEN = 1" but it does not help.

Any ideas anyone?

Anyone found out how to run this game in 1360x768?

Also, I can't seem to get AA to work. I set it to 4x, no difference to AA off, same when I tried 8x. What the hell?

Nope, still no luck on the resolution and I haven't really played around with AA yet. But the graphics are pretty bad anyway so I don't think it really matters if you turn the AA on or off.

I'm getting the Xbox 360 version anyway. But I downloaded the PC Fifa as a temporary solution. Luckily I didn't buy it. Graphics are really horrible, nothing current gen about it.

Where do I write the widescreen=1 ?

Do I create a locale.ini file and write that in or somwhere in the code?

And where do I put it?

I FIGURED IT OUT FINALLY THANKS TO MANIX !! He is my GOD !!!

Here is what you have to do in order to run the game in widescreen resolutions that are not available inside the game like 1360x768 for example !

Download the WinHex program from here http://www.x-ways.net/winhex/ It will allow you to go inside the code and change it!

Then once you install the program, go into FIFA and create a normal profile. You will probably have one by now. Thats where all the options are saved.

Then open the WinHex program and open the profile that will be located in My Documents/FIFA 07/A. Profiles

Once you open it, you will see a bunch of numbers on the left and jumbled code on the right of the screen. GO through that code on the right and you will see a bunch of options for various things like difficulty, camera, vibration etc.

Find the code where it will say WIDESCREEN=0 and change that 0 to a 1. It is located somewhere in the middle of all the code.

Once you change the 0 to 1 save that file and replace it when it ask you to. Now when you start the game and load your profile, the game will switch into widescreen mode no matter what resolution you have selected in the options.

Good Luck ! THANK YOU MANIX !!!

Still not working

Hey guys, I'm new, but I've encountered this very same problem. Now I know you guys probably have it working on your computers, but I can't seem to figure this problem out. I've changed the Widescreen value to 1, and that seemed to take effect, since the menus are now in a widescreen ratio. However, with my profile loaded I still cannot see any widescreen resolution options under game settings. I actually only have 3 myself, 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768. I'd like to run at 1280x800 if at all possible, and I've created that locale.ini file in the game root directory, but still no dice. If any of you guys have any other suggestions it would be appreciated. I just copied the code from the bottom of the first page, changed the resolution setting to 1280x800, and created the .ini file based on that. Hope that provides at least a small base to work off of. Please help! I can't be playing FIFA with a bunch of fat guys running around my screen!

For AA, why don't you try to set your video card to override the software config and do it manually? I'm not at home so can't tell you the steps yet, but it should be in the display options. Just change the settings from "application controlled" to 2x, 8x or whatever.

Hey Guys

I have downloaded that WinHex program and edited my profile file.
I have made a local.ini file for the main directory setting my resolution..

But in the game it self, the bar and the radar never fits, how can I fix this, it is the only thing I am missing now ... Imagine having a 640x480 window in the top left, where in the bottom of this window, you have the radar and the player status bar.

This is what works for me on both my laptop and home desktop. Using the WinHex program open up the file called fifa_pc_name in your My Documents folder. Use the find function to find where in the long field on characters it says widescreen. Typically this is followed by a 0. Change this to a 1, then save and say yes to when it asks about rebuilding the file. Now start FIFA07 and you will be widescreen. NOTE: if you change your resolution in the game after doing this you will have to redo what I said above to enable widescreen support again.

Let me edit my post...

The file you need to open is in your Profile folder labeled A. Profile...jsut went and checked again because I got this feeling what I said about the earlier file was wrong!

I tried ALL of this stuff and it all worked somehow, but not perfect. If you use WinHex, then you can activate the Widescreen mode, so that's 1 problem solved.

BUT, my monitor only supports 1152x864 or 1440x900 so no 1280x720 resolution for me. The highest resolution I currently can play in is 1024x768, but it IS Widescreen. When I use the locale.ini method I can change my resolution to 1440x900 but it only changes the in-game graphics such as the field and the players. But the score display and player status bars are all messed up because they're still in the old resolution.

So please tell me, how can I solve this and play FIFA 07 in 1440x900 correctly?

Cheers

Did you find the solution - I have the exact problem.

Hi Robbie,

I have exactly the same problem
cause also my monitor only supports 1152x864 or 1440x900 so no 1280x720 resolution for me. The highest resolution I currently can play in is 1024x768, but it IS Widescreen.

So I wonder if you found a solution already.

I use the locale.ini method now. I turn off the Team Crests status bar
and turn ON the player indicator on NAME. Guess there is no other solution.
Hope this helpes.
