I just wonder if any one know how to use the FIFA free style button for Xbox. I think there should be some combination directions pushed before it will do a special move? Any one has copy of FIFA 2003 for Xbox that knows about this? Thanks a lot.

By the way, this game really rocks. I played every single FIFA game and this one is the best. I love how you can aim your free kick so accuratly. It is really awesome when you score a free kick.

Yeah you use the right joystick next to the buttons. Sometimes when i use it the player just stops though which pisses me off no end.

Ive only had the game for 2 days so could someone tell me how to stop this?

Special move

Some how I think the special move thing doesn't work when you are running. One thing I figure out is that when you push left and push right (right thumb stick), it wil do a cross over move. Sometimes it doesnt work tho. It is so werid. Thats why I want to see if any one actually have a list of moves. When you just push the right tumb stick to lef or right, it won't do anything unless your player is in complete stop. Any one know more about this?

I think it has alot to do with timing and positioning. If you run toward a defender and slow down in time to take him on, i think the closer you get to him without losing the ball a variable sets of tricks can be pulled off. I have done it flicking the stick like a madman. Don't know if I'm right but it also seems that whatever foot you currently have the ball placed(right or left) plays a role here.

You are right. It says so in the FIFA 2003 game manual.

The right analog stick on the x-box version (the one I have) works just like the right anolog stick in the PS2 version. The L2 and R2 buttons on the PS2 version (so I'm told) are basically a shortcut for pressing the right thumbstick at a right angle to the direction you are running, which is a shimmy.

So far, I have only gathered the following about the right thumbstick:

Press in the direction (or near) that player is running: Knock-on (described in manual). Excellent for keeping a breakaway.
Press at a right angle to the direction player is running: Shimmy. Seems like a good way to deke out defenders but I haven't had much luck with it.
Also several people have reported star strikers (Zidane, Ronaldo for example) doing spins when messing around with the thumbstick while a defender is pressuring. I have done it with Zidane once.

yeah

Yeah.. the key I think is to slow down before you pull a special move. You can't press the run button while trying to do a special move.

special move

I kind of gave up on learning the special move. It doesn't really help you to get pass the defender. I think it is more useful to have combination of changing direction and speed up to loose your defender. I don't use any special move and I am kicking ass on Professional mode.
