Fifa 2004 -=- An Irony

Well I've been playing Fifa 2004 for a few days now, but something troubles me. If the game was produced in Vancouver, BC Canada, then how come Canada isn't in the Rest of World selection for teams (States is there, and pretty well every other country)? What's worse, whatever happened to Canadian soccer teams like the Vancouver 86'ers/Whitecaps?!? Pretty strange.

Why would canada be in rest of world?
it would be international obviously

Canadian teams are absolutely terrible, and only given comparison because MLS teams included to keep american fans interested and make them feel that their league is of any significance.

Developers do not care what is in the game - main thing is to sell to little american kiddies

Very good game though

australian league - NSL (for the moment at least) deserves a place 10 times more than any candian team ever will.

South Melbourne only lost 1-0 to Manchester United a couple years ago, and greater depth in local game than Canada.

What would I might say for FK Partizan Belgrade. Lost 1-0 in Madrid (Raul was in offside position while he sccoring a goal). 0-0 in Belgrade., and Real is best and most expensive football team on Earth.

well the game might be MADE in canada, but they are UK developers

Good point. That just happens to be where the FIFA 'headquarters' are. So there's no irony whatsoever- it's just where they were based geographically.

Grand Theft Auto was made in Britain- but is set in America. Notwithstanding the fact that Liberty City is fictional.

I never thought I'd be defending Canadian soccer to the Aussies. C'mon here... your science-tifik explanation of the greatness of Aussie football holds no water here. The Toronto Lynx beat Bundesliga 1860 1-0 a couple of years ago.... maybe we deserve to be in the Bundesliga? Oh.. wait.. Canada drew 1-1 and 0-0 with Brazil before... that must mean we're as good as Brazil!

Is the NSL better than a non-existant Canadian league? You'd better hope so. Does the NSL deserve a spot in FIFA 2004? probably.. based on marketing. Should the A-League be in as the USA second division? Why not? Does Canada deserve to be in the National Teams section.... absolutely.

You remind me of the smallest bully on the block... the only kid he can knock over is his kid brother. I guess you got tired of getting kicked around by the Europeans...

Cheers.

I think your right about MLS being in there to draw americans to buying it but thats just what EA thinks... I was born and raised in America and I have yet to play with an MLS team and dont watch the MLS hardly at all... so I dont think the MLS being in the game will make more sells in America but I know there are some that do so im glad its in there for them...

If I lived in Texas and had to watch the Dallas Burn, I'd probably ignore MLS too.

But luckily I'm from Chicago and we have the Fire who will be playing for the conference championship tomorrow evening at our new Soldier Field.

I think the Rest of the World section should feature the top team from every decent league in the world, at the very least. I made as many as I could last year with the CC for 2003 and will do the same if they release a CC for 2004. I created two 20 club divisions (yep, I made over 40 clubs last year) and played with my team in the 1st division while simming the 2nd - then I went back into the CC to promote and relegate the clubs based on the tables. It was a little work but I had a blast playing everyone.

The game includes MLS for the same reason as the K-Legaue, the licenses were cheap to get.....Who plays with the K-League after all? No to be mean, but EA Sports probably will put any team in that has cheap pockets.

The Vancouver Whitecaps arent a bad team they could probibly knock off a handfull of MLS teams at the least. a good deal of the A-League teams could knock off MLS teams.

The Whitecaps lost a close match against San Jose 4-3 back in September... They were leading 3-0 at one point in the game. I'd imagine that the L.A. Galaxy can atest to the Earthquakes ability to stage a comeback.

Go Earthquakes! Canadian Triumvirite~!
