Fifa 2004 Gameplay Preview

I've seen the movies and I can tell FIFA 2004 will suck. Even if it was pre pre alpha I don't believe they will change the stupid way players move and shoot. maybe because they're bull****ting us every damn year. FIFA just doesn't look like football. And I've already recognised the same crap in 2004 edition. EA would have to change the whole crew (apart from graphic makers) to make it any better. They don't know what football is about so they can't make this game realistic no matter how hard they try.

And again, wait for the demo!! I don't say I like FIFA 2004 from what I've seen yet! But I'll judge after I've played the demo!

You're all judging to early! Write your opinion after you've played the demo.

It's just like a hot girl, she may look beautiful, but can be a bitch. She can also be ugly and very nice....

AND!! She can also be hot and nice.

Before you know that, you have to know her!!

Keep that in mind! Play with her (FIFA) first, before judging!

But still we have to appreciate their hard work in observing hundreds of players teeth, texturize it, make a 3D build of it and spend hours of programming to put it in the game . . .

( BTW . . . I was being very, very sarcastic . . . )

mr_jows... or wutever -.-

Did I say a SINGLE thing about FIFA being inferior???

Or anything nonsense or totally assumptious 'bout FIFA2004??

Was I out to blindly defend WE/PES's arse??

My point was solely directed at your total nonsense example of wutever-who-knows version of WE/PES.

It's like somebody saying.
[anti FIFA mode]
"I saw people running through each other in FIFA 1994... Still think FIFA is realistic?? phhhttt"

[back to normal mode]
I was simply stating,
Only talk of what you "know" about.

That's it.... you're the one who better know how to read.

Plus, I bet most of the gamers here are engaged in one kind of a football activity or another. What's with you bragging about playing "high-level" football... [and still play FIFA  ... unless you don't have a modded PS2, in which case I understand.. been there]

To tell you my story
I was in the school soccer team ever since midschool. Played center mid for high school. Was our teams highest scorer... acheived the most stat points...coach admited that I was the most skilled player in the area.. [not the most conditioned though... the point our coach was trying to get at when he mentioned this -_-; ] Now, 6th year in college, been on a local team ever since my freshman year. Just last summer our team made it to the finals during the South East Korean Olympics [in the US]. Been on a Japanese club team during my study abraod expereince. lallalalla... blah blah....

So, don't think you're the only one who knows 'bout football here.

;)

Oh about the two games being compared and brought up by so many.... ain't it just obvious???? I'm just saying its inevitable. What you tryin to get at???

@dAvE
[hchu]

You're saying I'm writing something negative about a version I don't even know??

Come on!! I've played it and I've seen movies and no it's not PES3. But that's what I'm saying AGAIN! Some guys make a decision after they've only seen an ingame movie!!

I make a decision after I've played the game!! Just as I do for PES3...

And about your soccer 'careermode' :P Highschool soccer isn't the same level as I played! Far from that! I've played at a famous 1st division club in Holland couple of years ago. Didn't make it to the first team. I had to leave the club, cause I wasn't fast enough. I was fast with the ball but not without the ball... After that I played at the highest level of the amateur league. Till I was asked to play for a well known indoor soccer (FUTSAL) team. So I took the chance and guess what... I'm still playing there!!

So don't think you're the only one that's able to talk about football. I've been trained by a coach you probably all know when I was young..... So I know enough about tactics (and yes, that's one of FIFA's week points!). I know! But I'll review FIFA 2004 when I've played it just as I'm only going to review PES3 after I've played that one.

Wokay?? Are we straight now?? Because this thread is going offtopic!

I agree with the comment about the negative review being positive, but how can you review something YOU HAVE NO PLAYED? This is a half-assed attempt at being a smart-ass, nothing more.

Think I'll just try what's available, including Club footy and TIF and buy the one/s I want.

Last year I bought FIFA and PES and I do play PES more often but I stil occaisionally give FIFA a go.

I honestly think EA will try and improve the FIFA series as they are walking a thin line with lots of punters moving to PES. A lot of people view the licencing as one of the reasons people buy FIFA over PES and it's only a matter of time before PES get the licences.

Therefore I think FIFA will be a significant improvement of last years effort, as EA has everything to lose from putting out something that does not compete in gameplay with the other footy titles.

Having said that people will by games because that is the game they like to play. (strange theory but it explain britneys dance game selling) So FIFA will always sell.

Thank you for your time

I'm not trying to make false judgements, I only want to say that in the screenshots for PES3 everyone looks CHUBBY!!!!!!

Now in FIFA people are Normal

Depends on your TV screen. I have a wide screen, where they look fat, on my TV in the bedroom they look perfect.

FIFA on the other hand has horrendous disproportionate players...I can't stand FIFA's player models, I could forgive them if their animations and movements were realistic, but seeing these stubby, pointy elbowed FIFA robots run is really a painful experience.

In WE7 the movements are real, the runs look like real football and the animations are top notch..

great post.

Jowski,

EA promises a "whole new realistic gameplay experience" every year. They give us a boiled turd every Christmas, one of the worst sports franchasies ever created. It's bastardisation of football and FIFA(the footballing body) should seriously consider revoking their licence, they've made a mockery of football!

So its safe to assume, after 5 years of bullcrap and lies, that EA are up to it again. I mean if someone makes you a promise and backstabs you 5 times, it's pretty safe to assume he'll do it again the 6th time. The burdeon of proof is on EA, not us. They have to prove themselves, I don't think they will.

For this reason (justlike I've said before), FIFA2004 will be more EA crap IMO.

:)

hehe...cozmo man, now us football fans are "fanboys" while the half blind FIFA lovers who consider EAs horrible rendition of football realistic are, what? They've been done in countless times, yet they still swallow ea's shyte hook, line and sinker....and we're the fanboys !

We WE/PES fans have gotten a quality product, the best sports simulation of all time and you have the nerve to call us fanboys, while EA barely resembles our beutiful game...and you trust them yet again...

pes3 was complete because is the same as winning eleven 7 which was released the first week in august... so is not like they have to do that much to finish an already finished game...

I saw the videos and think that Fifa 2004 will be awesome. Yeah I admit previous Fifa games had their glitches, (and 2003 had many.) But since they're using the same engine as 2003 and expanding on it, I think it will be a lot better. The Fifa 2003 engine wasn't really that bad, just A LOT of bugs. The inclusion of Career mode also has a great importance. Off the ball control will be revolutionary.:mrpimp: :rockman:

I only saw images of FIFA, but they're so much better than 2003...that's y I say FIFA 2003 it's a beta version of 2004...the animations available, the response and specially...the game PACE...is so much more realistic than Weleven...the pitch size, and etc...

WEleven 7 it is cool indeed...but sometimes, u get the feeling ur playing Sega's Virtua Striker...player's animations are so fluid, so liquid...the ball phisics it's extremely unreal...it looks like a plastic, child's ball...u can notice from videos how much more real FIFA's ball it is...u can cut and dribble so easily in Weleven 7, that it seems playing are gliding...

other thing...the pace, like I said, for any game, any match it's extremely fast...every friendly, every League match it's like a Final match...u can't really make a rhytmic play...slowind down, watch your team mate and make a long pass...u have to think fast...it's like a real game, yeah, but like a Sub-20 game...everybody running, fast, sweating...snapping actions...it isn't unreal, but football it isn't always like that...specially depend on the scheme u chose for ur team...

In the other hand, u can do all that in FIFA 2004...and the best thing about it is...u can notice from videos, pics and interviews, that this version it is evoluting day by day...a thing that I reaallly doub it happens with any other football simulation...

FIFA 2004 it's coming greatly increased, while WEleven didn't reaaally present big new things...just someones with a cosmetic effect, and other ones, obligatory (like players animations getting increased and enhanced)...

people here in Brazil use to say that FIFA it's a arcade game and WEleven a true simulation - I think exactly the opposite...people say it about FIFA because of the scores (which was really ridiculous...your defense and CPU's are so extremely easy to beat in FIFA 2003)...but for me, FIFA has always meant to be more real...and less cool than WEleven...and vice versa...the only problem with FIFA, it's that FIFA didn't have some resources...on player control and teams...there were few animations available for players, if compared even with PS1's WEleven...

but everybody can notice how different this is in 2k4's case...many WEleven fans claim that it has a better gameplay, because of the control u can get over the player ur handling, but I guess gameplay it's a sum of controlling ur player and ur team...and how CPU behaves on it too...a thing that never existed in WEleven...ur always attacked by the forwards only...u barely see variations of side defenders invading ur penalty box, or defensive midfielders swaping positons in the attack with forwards or offensive midfielders...what plently happens in FIFA 2003, for example...and it's gonna get improved on FIFA 2004...

and...don't forget it...WEleven was released in August and FIFA, well, pratically November...they had plenty of time and a 70% game ready in that moment, so they could work hard, like...hmmm...maybe 10hrs/6 days (?)...hehehe...to get all the other features they had in mind already and those ones WEleven didn't bring...like some dribbles, special movements and even tactical options not present in Weleven...

fella...they know about how successfull WEleven is, and what path theyshould follow if they wanna kick Weleven from the trone...u can get it from interviews in EA's 'making of' site...besides, WEleven it's on the top for a long time now, since PS1's version...they can't afford that situation anymore, or FIFA series will die...they can't survive only by the die-hard FIFA fans...

if u wanna try a cool football simulator, essential...play Weleven 7...but if u wanna feel like playing an important match in Europe, or Sunday afternoon League game in Brazil, play FIFA 2004...I'm totally sure that what we saw until now it's just a scratch about what FIFA is going to offer...oh and that excites me...a thing that all the announced new stuff in WEleven 7 didn't...and just to remember, I'm really an impartial football simulator lover...I'm here for the first time, and the past FIFA versions, well...didn't please me...no way...

I think I play videogame for a long to get a feeling in my gut that says when this or that is gonna be good or not...specially on football, my fave sport, and people's general everyday talk in my country...
