FIFA 2004 intro movie BLOWS!

Okay, am I the only one who thinks that the FIFA 2004 intro movie is totally lame? I mean it starts off like a helicopter sim or an ad for the movie Blackhawk Down, and then they have helicopters shining searchlights on football players. I mean what's the bloody point?

Why not just have a soccer intro movie? Why f*** about with bleeding helicopters for crying out loud? What have helicopters got to do with football?

Is there any way to switch the stupid thing off, so that I don't have to click to get past the stupid thing?

I thought it was good, and Red Morning Light topped it off. I do miss the Intro were it sorta previewed the game itself though...

To turn the thing off....

Open the config file (main FIFA 2004 folder) with note pad or edit plus 2, and change : VIDEO=1 to VIDEO=0.

If there's anyone else out there who wants to get rid of the opening video, for God's sake don't try to do it with wordpad (and I assume that notepad has the same problem), 'cos if you do the game won't run. I'm guessing it has to be done using a text editor.

Thankfully I backed up my game before I messed with it.

Yeah, but I'm guessing EditPlus is a text editor. Notepad isn't, so if you use notepad or wordpad to edit the file it's going to ignore some code, and when you change that 1 to a 0 it probably changes some other things too.

I agree. The fact that they're whining about me complaining, and telling me I'm wasting MY time when they're clearly wasting theirs, makes them hypocrites. They engage in the exact same activity that they're decrying - that's about the best definition of hypocrisy I've ever seen.

And whatever you lot think, complaining about a product (i.e. if I HAD wanted to just go on and on about how bad the movie was without asking how to get rid of it) IS perfectly legitimate activity on a forum devoted to that product. It is wrong, just because you disagree with a person, to claim that he has no right to state his opinion. That mentality might have prevailed in the Soviet Union, or in Fascist Spain, but it has no place on the internet. I hereby defend my right (and the right of anyone else) to do nothing but complain about FIFA 2004 here, if it suits me to do so.

Anyway, I guess that some folks would defend any old crappy intro movie, no matter how bad it was, if it was bunged onto the front of a game they'd psychologically attached themselves to. I love this game, but I think the intro movie stinks (and it looks like they wasted a bunch of $$ on it - money that could have been better spent knocking a couple of dollars off the price of the game).

notepad is a text editor. it works perfect for editing .ini files

Sorry, I mistyped (about 6 times, hehe). What you need for editing this type of file is a hex editor. A text editor can change content that you don't know you're changing (in this case yours didn't, but mine did), whereas a good hex editor will preserve all info except that which you want changed. You'll notice that when you alter the config file, after it is altered it will have a different date (in the file properties). A hex editor can usually be set so that it doesn't do this - which helps if the game does a file check based on the content before allowing the game to start. Text editors often change a lot of data you might not know about.
