FIFA 2004 not even better then PES2!

Played FIFA 2004 for PS2 all weekend and what can I say?
I still have more fun with my PES2..I mean 2!
FIFA 2004 looks pretty good though the players moves like monkeys, and the gameplay is slow slow slow...
The AI not good either, don´t use wings, always attack in the middle, the same way, no fantasy and depth at all.
Scoring outside the box is to easy, so the goalies s**k, hit the goal and it´s a goal.
Can´t remember that the AI ever scored with a header with a pass from the wing.
To easy to steal the ball cuz the players turn to slow and runs to slow with the ball. Defenders closes up behind from you fast though you have 5-6 yards ahead...with Ryan Giggs!!!..Come on...give me a break....he runs faster then the right defenseman in Cardiff...trust me...in real life that is...but not in FIFA 2004...very realistic...
The off ball control is a good thought, but in a game, a bit hard since you almost have no time before a defender is the and steals the ball from you. Havent myself tried it to many times, but played against a guy online and everytime he used it..I took the ball easy...like stealing candy from a little kid.
Though the online playing is the best with the game...unless u dont play against someone thats not smarter then the AI...
Well...soon I probably will trade my FIFA 2004 for a copy of PES3...since FIFA 2004 isnt even better then PES2...or PES...1!!
No matter what all FIFA-fans say...I just know it...Play PES instead...and dont look at the things like..if he has the right haircut...or real namnes ect...look at the only thing that matters...GAMEPLAY!!!!

never play on so easy levels...always being with the level below the hardest then when I learned the game I take it up to the hardest...so this is on pro and worldclass level....dont come here and think I dont know what I am typing man...been a gamer for long...probably before u even was born......

eh wateva, oh and about the defenders catching up thingie, when they catch up to u, or ALMOST caught up to u u can freestyle themoff, tried it with demo, works well.

i am a fifa fan, not PES, but i pretty much agree. i hated PES 2, but PES 3 is some way ahead of FIFA because: CPU AI is more random, more real in PES 3. scoring goals are more satisfying, not relying on some pitiful goalkeeping. the keepers stand in the right position! the finishing is more real

that sed the master league is crap, the player made up names and club names are annoying and both games are very limited. PES 3 wins on gameplay, despite FIFA 04 improving.

And i am playing on pro level and the keepers are still really really bad, i am sorry to say. i have to avoid having long shots, cos seeing them bulge in the middle of the net just doesnt satisfy me.

Agree Di Smithio...not fun to score from there...every time...and u know...its a sure goal....dont satisfy me either..in PES2 I can count the goals I made that looked like another on my one hand....there u needed to find new ways to score all the time...

yeh as i say PES 2 didnt appeal to me, but having rented PES 3 and played it q a lot for a few days it is a way ahead of Fifa.

Fifa is better than Pro Evo in these areas: commentary, graphics, authenticity (proper names etc), off the ball and can match the fun of Pro Evo when playing 2 player matches.

But it just isnt as satisfying, and that is down to EA, they had a year to make the game realistic, and cocked up. they are not far off though, and have a year to improve it. i mean if theyd kept FIFA 03s keeper AI all would be ok.....! i dont understand whats happened with the keepers, its a shame.

Have played FIFA 95,96,97 ect...and every time I hope they make the game better...but hmm...maybe a bit...but far away from PES...
Almost like they release the same game with a bit better graphic and new rosters...some new stadiums....but hey...what about the gameplay...I dont care what the stadium looks like cuz the game is played on a green pitch....and then it comes down to the gameplay...
Think its a shame EA still sells games, year after year, stealing money from kids...lol....NHL...the same...

stadiums are important to me, and they look good, but those on PES dont look to shabby either really, and their gameplay is better. PES may not have the names of the stadiums right, but they look pretty good, not q as good as FIFA, but theyve got better gameplay with it.

Im not a PES fan, but it is time to face facts, PES is sadly better despite inventing names such as 'trad bricks' for man utd

True tom...like NHL 94 is better then NHL 2004...more fun to play...bcuz...of yes...the gameplay...which it always must come down to...mean...graphics between 94 and 2004 is like night and day but...bcuz of the gameplay...its simply more fun...

Just to bad PES3 dont have onlineplay....cuz whatever I think of 2004 ..thats pretty good and fun....but playing it alone...gets boring after a while cuz it has not depth..and thats a short while....I played PES2 for a year..and always found new stuff to do..new plays..new goals to score...thats is what I call depth..

man i think codemasters club football has more depth than the CPU AI on fifa, now that is sad, as its codemasters first effort at a footie game, EA's what 9th attempt?

FIFA will never have the realism of WE people. its something that EA just will never do, they are there to cater for the people that want an alternative to WE. if they would of sorted out the AI and Goal keepers it would of been a lot better. 2005 can be a very good game even if it not as good a WE as long as EA do not stand still. Goalkeepers in WE7 are also pretty bad sometimes though although people do not wanna admit it.

I agree with the first guy. And no dribbling. And when you run fast it´s to easy to intercept. the ball is been pushed to far away.

But after I´ve played PES3 I saw that the passing receivement in PES sucks. The dribblings are great but Fifa have all the leagues and licens etc.

Well, well first time I am this dissapointet at Fifa but I can live with it I think. Hope 2005 will be better. cause if PES are keep on going with so few leagues and clubs etc Fifa will be the best for all time.

yeah when your two yards away from another players in WE7 the passing is terrible. also why do they bother giving us the step over skill. it never works, defender is never fooled.

Eh, you're supposed to press a direction, say upright from the direction you're doing the step over, and sprint.... just like in real-life --.

You don't expect to be facing the same direction doing the step over and fool the defender do you? In real life players will sprint in one direction (different from the direction they are facing the defender) after doing how many stepovers....

Don't want to get in the FIFA vs PES debate, but just had to correct something that is stated improperly.

what you talking about? if your one on one against a defender the whole point of it is to fool the defender into following your leg and not the ball. if you step over the ball with the right foot the defender will move to the right if succesful and you can just dab it to the left so you can get away. Have you not ever seen denilson use it? damn mark walters use to fool defenders week in week out with it.

The whole point of a step over move is to fake the direction and fool the timing of the defender of where you're gonna go.

Any decent defender will 'NOT' simply follow the leg and be faked. They 'CONTAIN'. You seen denilson do a step over and then continue running in the same direction??? He'll do many (it's denilson) step overs and sprint away in a different direction than he is running (doing the step overs) or he is facing, standing still.

Unless the defender is really poor or on very rare ocasions, this is how step overs are normally pulled off. Just like how you should do it in the game... run -> step over(s) -> hold sprint in whatever direction you'd wanna go, while the player is doing the step over(s). Doing this, the player will cut the ball in the direction you held sprint+direction as soon as he finishes the step overs.

Basically you said it your self.
"...dab it to the left.." that's basically what you're doing when you hold direction when the player is doing the step overs.

I assume you only did the stepover and expected the defender to step aside from the direction you're running. No, I don't think it works like that.
