One think i find strange is that WHY DOES FIFA 2004 TAKE UP 0% OF MY MEMORY SPACE?????????????????????????? while programs like explorer and svchost take up at least 10%????

Well to my understanding, when you bring up the task manager with CTRL ALT DEL, FIFA minimizes. And when it minimizes it "halts" and therefore stops eating up resources.

i don't have worms running,, i have very little programs running.

and set the details to medium? no..??
i don't want to play it at medium quality... all other games runs perfect at full detail level.

it's just bad encoding from EA Sports!

I play at 1280x1024 and its smooth, even at 1600x1200 its just as good. Using a geforce 4 w/ p4 2.2ghz & 1gb ddr

i really don't understand everyone's problem...

my machine is below the top-range ones, xp1500, 512 sdram, geforce 4 mx440, and i'm playing it in 1600x1200 with great detail...excellent stuff and i'm keeping it with me until fifa 2005. 'nuff said.

THe game works fine with me...my FIFA2k3 is still choppy but not this... i had to remove ALcohol 120% to ge t my discs to work and i had to upgrade my soundcard drive to stop the sound from cutting out in the middel of a game but now it works fine.



Btw guys...yes teh stats and databse etc are sloppy on FIFA 2004 but get TCM 2004 and use fuutblal fusionl..i mean TCM 2004 is so much better in terms of databse etc..and then wen u play FIFA 04 games..its awesome....whiles if u jus want online ply..with opponents..just use FIFA 2004....

HOwever i think its only worth getting the two games if you get a deal for them..or if like me, ur really into football.

Now if Championshoip Manager teamed up sith PES 3 and did their own fusion......i must admit i wud never look back at EA's FIFA series. Again i only bought EA's instead of Konami's b/c of club football names.

Stop defending EA u guys they encoded the game very bad.. u allmost can smell they didnt improve **** about the game those lazy canadians.. and dont give me that crap like upgrade ur pc and videocard drivers bull**** the game runs choppy all other games run fine and smooth.. why should I even put a line in inis to improve the gamespeed isnt that EA's job??? those idiots even forgot direct ip and gamepad config.. even in 2003 they didnt make that mistake... they also changed the menu style now its slow as hell

thank god I didnt buy the game.. my advice 2 u guys dont buy FIFA games no more unless uve tested it and I aint talkin bout demos

My fifa 2004 runs very choppy. I have a good computer (k7 1500+, 512 RAM ddr266, Radeon 9700,...). I play in 1024x768 and full details, but the game always choppy in 640x480 and low detail.
Its clear that the problem isn´t the power, its the engine of the game. I always have thought that EA is a group of stupid people doing something that have no idea. Dont know the esence of soccer, and now don´t know how to do a good program (and they move a lot of money).

Sorry for the exageration, but I dont understand why it happend. The game is not playable for me. Some people says that the game is optimized for nvidia chips, but I can think this. If you have a good computer you see choppy animations?.... its the only game that slow on my computer, and its not problems of drivers, directx, or other stupid reasons that are running there. The reason is ONE (stupid programers).

And no word about gameplay. Some things good, but the phisic is too bad. EA, you have been doing this game from 7 or 8 years ago... how can you put this ball in the pitch? and some animations of the players.... it´s incredible.... no more words about this.

I would want to talk about others points, but with those previous errors I can´t say any more. NOT PLAYABLE for me. Please, return the 0,5€ I spent in the cd for this game (and the frustrations, that can´t be valoured in euros). Please, others companies, don´t forget the posibility of made a good pc soccer game. Fifa games are not the solution for too many people.

you guys are criticizing an excellent game. If fifa runs too slow on your computer, then just open the cfg files and edit them. Download patches, run on 800*600 and the game runs like a dream. If you guys think 2003 was better then you guys are talking bull****. 2003 sucks bad it had bad graphics, bad passing, bad faces and was extremely limited. compared to 2004, all the other fifa games are lame, only if you know how to play 2004 intelligently.

256 DDR Ram
GeForce 4 ti

and i run the game full detail and 1024x768 and its fine even playing online and i play through a network turn down the detail, check for worms do the obvious thing

For all you guys who are having choppy problems do this:

Edit the locale.ini file in FIFA main folder with Notepad, if it doesn't exist, them create it using the notepad.

Write this inside the locale.ini

RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1

Save and go play. Just make sure you didn't created a locale.ini.txt or its not going to work!

I know very well what is locale.ini. I have edited all possible, but the game is only a bit better.
render_every_ai=1 do the game run more smooth, but not perfect. I use fraps.exe and I have 85 f/s but game is steel with some choppy. I repeat....IT´S NOT THE POWER.

Now I have radeon 9700 overclocked and p4 2.8ht and ALL games run very well. I play Far Cry will all details on and AAx2, and run at a very good speed. I play Lock On and the framerate is very good. I play any game and run very well. ONLY Fifa 2004 (and Fifa 2003) runs with choppy, and fraps says 85 f/s or 60 f/s if I play in a resolution with 60 hz.

This is the first game that I see with 85 f/s and choppy. And I´m using render_every_frame=1 in locale.ini (without this line the game is patetic). And I have used all vsync, but don´t resolve the problem. The only satisfaction is to know that this game is not very well in gameplay, and then my curiosity for solve this problem is reduced.
