Fifa 2005 is dissapointing, just like last year

This year i rented Fifa and am buying PES. This is the first time i have ever done this, but having played fifa over the past weekend, i can only say ive made the right decision. Fifa is dissapointing from start to finish and there are numerous things wrong with the game, that only the most ardent and blind fifa fan cant notice, or refuses to notice. A slight annoyance is the fact there is no opening entrance to wet the appetite, but that is only a minor quibble really. The menus are ok, quicker than last year i guess. Anyway onto the 'gameplay'. Well its unrealistic, scripted and boring. Shooting is diabolical. No one can hit the ball that ******* hard, and every fifa player is able to do so, how unrealistic. Corners and set pieces are woeful, simply woeful. Why cant you take short corners, surely EA must have noticed that this was a problem in last yrs version? And the 3 meagre options are rubbish too, and usually end up in the hands of the keeper. Free kicks, again the kicker hits them WAAAAAY too hard and it is far too easy to score. Fifa needs to learn from PES in both these cases. The passing system i felt was ok, a bit of an improvement on 04, but overall the gameplay is somewhat basic. You can always pass theu the defence becuase they leave wide open spaces, mainly down to how big the pitches are... anyone else notice how huge they are. Ive sed for a long time they shud have varying pithc sizes, highbury is not the same size as the san siro for example... The goalkeepers can now save long shots at least, but they hardly ever come off their line, you can close into within 6 yards before they bloody move which makes it easy, but thanklfully u dont really have much control over the direction of the shooting so they sometimes make saves. The CPU AI is still not good enough. They always attack in the same way, but this time its down the flanks unlike last yrs version where it was thru the middle, get to within 15 yards of goal and then shoot. They NEVER shoot from outside the area. WHY THE HELL NOT? Ea have just moved their attacks to the flanks, theyve not improved the AI at all just changed it to a different mode of attack. PITIFUL. Even the grpahics were nothing special this year, from side on players dont even look like their real life counterparts a lot of the time, only when u see them front on can you tell who it is. Commentary wasnt great, but of course is betetr than EA and correct me if im wrong, but i started a premierhsip season as Arsenal and was playing against Blackburn, and for some reason i could hear spurs chants in the background, WHY WHY WHY? have ea just thrown in any old chant into any match, deary me. Most dissapointingly, the game is boring, even tho 04 was poor at least it was entertaining, i got bored within 6 matches this time round. EA have got it more wrong than ever before, this game is barely on a par with 04 in my opinion. I dont care if you think im slagging off fifa, cos i am. If you dont like what i say i dont care, it is just my opinion, im not here to argue with you, if you like the game, then thats your choice, but i dont and am looking forward to PES.

I think the game is brilliant. I will tell you why I think so in a review I will do. I will point out the good and bad points about the game and explain why it is such a good game. Just because it is different to PES doesn't mean it can't be a whole lot of fun. I accept it's not as realistic but I've never enjoyed a football game as much as this, and I have owned PES3 as well. That's my honest opinion. Criticise me because I like FIFA but I don't care, I'm enjoying it a lot.

thats fair, i used to enjoy fifa too even tho its not realistic, but fifa 05 just didnt do it for me, i did find it dull and repetitive to be honest. but different people have different tastes so thats fair enough

I found it repetitive after playing the demo over and over again. But the full version has changed my view. Still, that is something I will find out more as I play it.

This year they attack from everywhere. Last year I really didn't like it how they didn't attack down the wings. But it depends on what their tactics are. Play against Milan and see if they always attack down the wings. They always get me through the middle.

Also, as for the chants. I haven't had that problem. I think the chants are great.
