FIFA 2005 shuts down

I installed Windows XP with the service pack 2 and other necessary updates. The game loads and I can go into settings, choose teams, etc. But the moment the match is about to start, the game shuts down and sends me to the desktop, with a message saying fifa2005.exe has encountered a problem.

Prior to Windows XP, I was using Windows 98 and didn't have any problem with the game whatsoever.

I've tried reinstalling the game on a different drive, I've tried defrag, I've changed the display settings, registry settings, but nothing works.

If any one of u out there could help me resolve this, it's be really cool. Thanx pals!

i have a:

Pentium 4
1.5 GHZ
40 GB HDD
256 MB Ram
Windows XP Service Pack 2

It's a rather new PC. i haven't had any problems running games on Windows 98, which I was using before I installed XP. But my neighbour has the same config as me. We use the same versions of both XP as well and FIFA 2005. We shared the same CDs, but the game works perfectly fine on his machine.
