Fifa 2006 freezing-up problem

I have a problem with my Fifa 2006... Whenever I end the match and click Quit to main menu the game freezes up... I googled for any info on this problem and actually found a solution for it... All you had to do was to transfer chants.big from your data folder to your audio folder... The problem is, chants.big was in the audio folder in the first place... But the game still freezes up... Any solutions for my problem? Please help...

BTW. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I have installed the first official patch...

P.S. Dear mods I'm sorry for opening the same topic here as I have in support, but I really need this problem fixed and there is a much better chance of somebody knowing the solution to this problem here than in support (for my thread has been viewd only 16 times and there are about 10000 users on this forum)...

The language is English... I have installed the official EA patch and the latest NK FOOTBALL patch... But I had problems with game crashing before installing any of the two patches mentioned above... So... I hope you can help me... ;)

When the game freezes up does the sound loop and the only way out is a hard boot?

Yes... I hear the sound of fans cheering and then it freezes up... Sometimes I get lucky and manage to open the task manager and end the non-responsive Fifa, but usuallly I have to restart my computer...

Hi Duggy,

Have you tried an older graphics driver? Your card is quite old and may have diminished support with the latest driver. You may want to try the 66.93 or go back even further.

Get Sound master program made by Rinaldo, Open the commentary language you have your game freezing with. Don't change anything. Just choose exit in the menu and answer yes to the save now? message pop-up. Let sound master close itself.

Start up your game now, it should be fixed. If it's not write back here, and if it's fixed also :)
