Fifa 96 Problem!!!

Hello everyone,

Since FIFA96 was one of the good old FIFA-Games, I decided to install it again to have some retro-fun. I installed it as usual and was very happy when I noticed that I'm able to play the game under Windows XP. I switched to the "Friendly"-Menue and started my first game. Everything worked quited fine. But then when I shoot goal the game closes and I'm back at Windows.It's everytime the same error no matter wich teams I choose or if I decide to start a League or a Cup. I noticed that there's no Intro at the beginning and there a no videos ingame but my Fifa Main-Folder contains also a video folder with all the video data. Maybe those video-files are not compatible to XP???

Please help me!

Well, you should appreciate that the game could run. Mine even can't get through in it under XP! Interestingly, I found out that you can use VirtualPC or VMWare Workstation to run it because you can install Win9x guest os where the game would be executed properly. Also my guess is that DOSBOX maybe worth a try too.

I already tried DosBox, but it's too complicated for me and it didn't managed to open FIFA96 correctly. I think it has something to do with the ingame-videos, because I noticed that there's no intro when I start the game.:jambo:
I remember there were also videos (those short cartoons) shown on the indicating panel after shooting goals. Maybe thats a reason why the game breaks up when shooting goals. Maybe FIFA96 video-files aren't compatible to XP!?!

Maybe just maybe you can try it with the "compatibility" option which can be chosen when u right click on the game icon.

Does the commentary work? I have a version of FIFA96, but there is no commentary. The audio folder only seems to contain a few chants for the International teams, but that's it. I have a tool that plays the .bnk files, and my plan is to extract some call names for 'classic' players and use them in a commentary for the newer games...
