FIFA 98: RTWC questions for PC

Hello, I have a couple of questions about FIFA 98: RTWC for PC...

1. How can I play it on Windows XP?

2. Are there any patches available? If so, what is the best one?

Answers would be very appreciated!

You can play on XP. I've done it myself. If there are any issues, use the compatability wizard to have it run Windows 2000.

Check the download center for Fifa patches, if not there, look at cnet.com or download.com

Dont set your virtual memory too high (e.g. >1024), or it wouldn't run.

You have to use the compatibility mode on the CD's AUTORUN.EXE file to even allow Fifa98 RTWC to install.

Don't use Compatibility mode for the actual game exe or shortcuts unless you have to.

Best performance is gained under Windows XP by using the D3D shortcut


If you have sound issues in the game, goto Start - Run - type in dxdiag - go to sound and turn audio acceleration to off


Also ditto about the Virtual Memory setting. I like a real low setting for Fifa98 like 100MB. Just remember to change it back after you have played.

i've downloaded fifa rtwc 98,it's really great,but i can't play road to world cup?!
i can play friendly matches,penalties,training but every time i click on rtwc mode my computer just blocks and i have to quit the game...any suggestions?
i also play on windows xp

Problems With Fifa RTWC 98

Hi,

When I try to install the game using my CD-ROM, I receive an error message from WINDOWS:

“Use your control panel to install and configure system components”

I have read GALAHS internet page in particular when he explains how to install FIFA RTWC 98 on a Windows XP System. So I tried to change AUTORUN.EXE compatibility (first Windows 95 and then win98 and win 2000) but without success.

I used to play FIFA RTWC 98 every day with my precedent pc, but since I have change it, I can’t play anymore. Now I have got an ASUS NOTEBOOK with 120 GB of Hard disk space, 1,6 GHz processor and a 0.99 GB RAM. My video card is a Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family (with drivers updated from video card site). I controlled also in CWindows\System32 directory and there are no GLIDE files.

Please give me any suggestions … I am desperate!!!

Fifa Rtwc 98 Audio Problem!

Can anyone please help me! Fifa 98 is my favourite PC soccer game. First of all I lost my cd so I had to download a free version from a torrent site. The game starts up perfectly, but when it comes to the start of the game there is no Commentary, only the team's name is called, also only the player's names are said. There is no "side" commentary. Also when I run the 3D patch I am prompted for a cd, and that I dont have. When I try to run a no cd patch on the already 3d patched exe file, I get an error message. Someone please helP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this your own computer? That kinda sounds like you have no priviledge to install the game. Maybe you can make a snapshot of the error and post it here.

I have that version too. My opinion is buying a second-hand game cd or ... check if the torrent file is above 100M so that you can have the 'side' commentary. The retail cd image is about 400M big.
I have been cheated for a while about the no-cd cracks available on the web... the accurate one for FIFA98 must be downloaded from GameBurnWorld and is a COMMAND-LINE program. When downloaded, place and run it under the FIFA98 directory. That's it.
