Fifa 2004 vs PES3

First of all, I’m a Fifa fan, I’ve played it in PC in Fifa98, Fifa2000 and in PS2 Fifa 2002 and Fifa 2003. I noticed that every year EA made an effort to create better gameplay, despite the good job done about the sound and graphics.
I spent this year of 2003 playing Fifa 2003, and I couldn’t ear about Pes2, ‘cause once I try it in a demo and I didn’t like it.
This year I try PES3 on a Pc. I must say...I LOVE IT..
1. The gameplay is so smooth, so real, the players respond imediatly on the buttons pressure, and them moves don’t remains in memory like Fifa, i.e., if you run with a player and you’re close to field end line, if you make a movement back, the fifa player still continue to run until the ball cames out, but the Pes player stops and he turns back.
2. The graphics in pes3 are very good, the replays seems like TV and accordind to the importance of the play, they give us various angles. The field grass seems very nice, and you can see the blank spaces in the grass filled of sand.
3. The sound, although is not as good as fifa, recreates the atmosphere in the stadiums. If you don’t like the commentators, just turn off in the options menu. The sound trax in fifa is great, but when I buy a foot game, is to play foot, not to listen music. If I want to listen great music, I go to a Disco. Despite this, I would like to ear some Buuuuuhhh! when team is playing badly
4. The croud in stadiums can be variable acoording to the importance of the game. If the game is between tho minor teams, don’t expect the stadium with full croud. I don’t know if fans leave the stadium if the game is poor. Anyone aswer me plz.
5. This year, Konami put in Pes3 the 3 portuguese major teams. F.C.Porto (Puerto), Sporting (Esportiva) and Benfica (Lisbonera). THANK YOU KONAMI. Pes3 doesn’t have the portuguese superliga, but with some work and with edit mode, you can do it yourself.
6. Pes 3 has an edit mode, wich allows you to edit teams and players names, and you can change kits and flags, so if you’re not satisfied with your team kits and name, just change it.
7. The master league in pes3 doesn’t have and an end, unlike the 5 year carrer mode in fifa. The teams management are more completely in Pes than fifa.
8. The intro games are very like in real life with the team photo and the formation in the screen and also have the national teams formation when listening to the hymn.
9. If you have some commentary to do for this article, plz just say it.

In resume, that’s why a fifa fan has been converted to PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 3. The only important thing in a soccer game is it gameplay, and PES3 does have it all, and gameplay it’s the most important thing for real soccer lovers. Maybe next year I’ll return to Fifa 2005, but only if it gameplay has been improved.

I converted after playin 2003 and my first real interest was WE:6I. Now I have WE7 Imported and its the best damn thing a football game could offer. Didnt even have to edit Carlos ****, just downloaded everything into my x-port.

Yes, I'm a portuguese converted.
In November 2002, I bought Fifa 2003 for PS2. I’ve already has the previous version, Fifa 2002 and had played Fifa 98 and 2000 on PC
I bought the game despite the reviews of the press and soccer websites that claimed PES2 was better. I tried also the demo of Pes2 on PS2, but I was used to Fifa controls and graphics, and I didn’t liked it.
Fifa 2003 had my favourite team (FC Porto), also like other “rest of world” teams. I played 2003 during all year, despite the bugs I noticed ( I’ve wrote to EA but no answer).
I’ve played it until Fifa 2004 Demo for PC, witch I played until Pes3 demo. Since then, I only play Pes and I’m having it for PS2, due to it gameplay and edit mode. Also has FC Porto, Sporting and Benfica.
But I want to have also Fifa’s games collection, if not on a console, so be it on PC.
Also for PS2, Pes is the only one having a Editor Mode, as long as for PC, Fifa is the only one having the best patches.
I still have the hope EA’ll make us a better Fifa 2005, not only about licences, but mainly about gameplay.

Yeah I had to make the switch also. I played FIFA cause I live in the USA and thats the only football game most people play. The 2004 is such rubbish though, I thought my PS2 was broken when i pu it in, I couldnt believe that EA would release such garbage

To be fair, most music played at discos are tripe.

EA apparently wanted an 'International' feel to the soundtrack. If a footy game has a soundtrack, I'd prefer some music that'll actually get you fired up for a game.

They got it with Song 2 (FIFA 98), Tupthumping (FIFA WC '98) and Joy! (FIFA 2000).

Speaking of that last song, whatever happened to Gay Dad!? There music's now condemned to the odd car advert.
