I've discovered a problem with Zidane, I've messed up some of his variable and he does not shoot, this will be fixed. :) I'm going to fully test the game now.

In all fairness, I believe that my update will challenge you more and give greater depth in play.

I am yet to add my complete list of players' and teams that will be made individual and the overall play is smooth and difficult, but I believe it is still easy in many ways.

This is only a beta. :) No, not even that to be honest as I'm no where near what I want to do!!!!!! :o

Just try it out and post some feedback mate, that way "things can only get better" ;)

I know how much Nick works on this, because he loves to edit and to have good gameplay. But I won't download it since Nick is a hardcore player which likes the HARD things and to loose, I don't, I'm already having tough times playing in Professional, hehe :)
Great work anyway ;)

See ya!

Gameplay Update 2003 Beta

I tested this using these setting:

Semi Pro with 4 minute halves

PROS
Yes, it's certainly very smoooth...the feel is excellent for both passing and shooting. Ball behaviour is superb, especially it's flight through the air with both deflections and bounces being very realistic.

CONS

Tackling (or just plain blocking the CPU) is damn near impossible with interceptions being the name of the game here when it comes to regaining possession.
Also the defenders run behind the goalie when the CPU moves in closer for a shot at goal. This is a bit unrealistic from open play but very good at set pieces and corners etc

Finally...was it just my imagination or did it start raining 80 minutes into a match at the Bay Arena ?

;)

Sorry mate, FIFA 2003 doesn't have them type of weather effects.

Thanks for the feedback, nice to know you enjoyed it overall. :)

Played 4 games in pro and 1 in international. I really enjoy the ball physics, the trajectories of the shots, the way the ball bounces. The collective play of the AI is really good. But I also observed that the defenders run behind the goalie.

Erm, I will try and sort this out like I said very early beta. :)

So hopefully the next beta will give much more SOLID play and break some records, lol.

Are you sure that the defenders ran behind the keeper only after you installed my update? If someone could put in Sameers, or any other update and see if this happens then I’d be grateful as I can’t see how this has started happening.

This is confusing, but I’m sure I’ll find a way round it, that is if it isn’t already a FIFA 2003 bug.

What did U change ??

Hey Nick, what did U change to fix the 'player behind goal' bug ? Is it in the positioning.ini ?

Overall, I like your new gameplay as the pace of the ball is much faster but I find it easier... even in World Class...

Bye

Hmmm, easier? I think I know why and it was probably the defence bug. I'm working closely on getting the right values for the variables in which the A.I use to calculate how far they mark in certain parts of the field. I think a lot of the difficulty comes from this and if I get it just right, which probably won't even be in the next beta (I hope to have all 6 teams and every player unique) then you'll be having a lot more trouble against the A.I.

Hi Nick, I agree with last post, the update seems easier. I could'nt manage to score against the AI in pro in the first version, and now I can score in international. Anyway, the most important thing is realism. What would be nice is a tighter (and overlapping) marking from the AI defenders. On the other hand, the goalkeeper leaves very few chances to score with headers, I think this could be improved because it would force the human player to build his attacks ...

I'm going to do a few tests on the easiness of the game and try and build upon what seems to be pretty lame defending from the A.I. I think I know a good few ways to get it harder then the first beta, it's just balancing it. :)

I'll be back with tales to tell very soon!!!! :D

Right I think I know what changes had to be made, you see...in this beta I had been messing around with the marking and defending and didn't change it back for the latest beta release. The problem was basically the human players' A.I team mates do some of the closing down the oposition for you, something that takes a lot of pressure and difficulty off the game, which can lead to a LOT of easiness. I've actually looked back at the file just now and changed the values so that it's harder then ever.

I hope the next beta will have you crying in your chairs, while you loose 5-0 on Amateur, lol. :crazyboy:
