Rashad F. Sadydov (born June 16, 1982 in Baku) is a former Azerbaijani football (soccer) player and national team captain. As a result of missing the registration deadline for the Azerbaijani football club side PFC Neftchi, Sadydov is staying fit playing basketball this year

One of Azerbaijan's top players has switched to basketball after coming home to find that the summer transfer window had already closed.
While he was offered the chance to play in the second division for Neftchi's reserve team, Sadygov instead chose to keep fit by playing basketball, scoring 14 points in his first game for BK NTD.

Azerbaijan must have strange registration policies...was he out of contract? If so, then why couldn't he join a club as a free agent after the registration period (and why didn't domestic clubs jump at the opportunity to sign him weeks ago?)? If he wasn't out of contract, then why did he need a formal registration (and why did his club forget to register their star player?)?

Were there any more details on the programme?
