You need to set the Autorun.exe file properties for "Windows 2000" compatiility mode before you try to run it to fix the DirectX issue. I don't know why but some of us in WinXP are running into this problem quite often.

Do this:
1) Right click on AutoRun.exe and click on [Properties].
2) Go on the compatibility tab and put a check box to run the file for Windows 2000 compatibility mode.
3) Then click [Ok] and try to double-click on the file to run it again.

You should be set to move forward with the installation. Hope this helps.

We have to edit the autorun.cfg in /Autorun and replace "9.0c" with "0"...

That solution does work sometimes, but if it doesn't you can edit the cfg.
I did the compatibility mode thing, because I've had to use it before for a different game and another EA game. It depends on what's causing the problem, that decides which action you take that works.
