FIFA Puskás Award for the most outstanding goal of 2009



I have to admit hes got that ability to score those WTF goals.

The most emotional moment of the ceremony came when the winner of the FIFA Fair Play Award was announced. Recognised for his sterling contribution to the spirit of the game throughout a distinguished career, the award went to legendary English player and coach Sir Bobby Robson, who died in July this year and was widely admired for his sportsmanship on and off the pitch. Collecting the award from UEFA vice-president Senes Erzic was Sir Bobby’s wife Elsie Robson.

I actually really really like that goal, much better than the generic 'wow' long range strike that its usually awarded to. (although it is a long range strike, but its different)

If we search deeply i'm quite sure we can found other splendid goals, ones of them maybe even more spectacular, but this one is fine too.

I'm not upset that Ronaldo's goal won (it's sensational), but I would've given the award to Grafite:

I think there were better goals as well, maybe this one was more important among them.

The Grafite goal was masterclass, that Ibra goal when he was at Inter.

I'm not upset that Ronaldo's goal won (it's sensational), but I would've given the award to Grafite:

I think ronaldo's goal just about deserved it due to the importance of the game. united were under pressure. they needed a win. They needed a moment of genius. Step up ronaldo!

Aye. Even if I am a bit biased, I have to say Ronaldo's goal isn't the best of the year by a long shot(pun intended).

It was a marvelous goal, but nowhere near the best. Had it been by not as big of a star, by a smaller team and in a less crucial match, nobody would even remember it when talking about the goals of the season.

Exactly. I don't argue with the fact that it was an important moment/goal, but the fact that it was Ronaldo scoring it only works against him - it wasn't that big of a deal to him, really, even his free kicks are better than that goal...
