BTW, I have been here a while, my other name was banned.

Did you notice people that like to get into a PES/FIFA war get banned?! :crazyboy:

Seriously, who cares about post count, anyway?! I saw some quality posts from new members and some real sh1tty ones from 1000+ posters.

One of the reasons I don't post much here is that a lot of 'hardcore' members are getting into immature arguments like these. Still, an excellent forum for getting info on upcoming releases, though!

For the record, as a PC owner, it has always been FIFA for me until now, but I welcome PES with open arms. I think FIFA2003 was royal crap, but I still play FIFA World Cup 2002 with an excellent gameplay patch on a weekly basis. After checking movies of both new releases, I expect 2 great football titles! Time will decide which one I favor.

Fifa is a big joke

HAHAHAH Fifa 2003 is such a big joke. WAY too easy of a game. Every single time I took a corner and did a bicycle kick the ball went in. I mean how gay is that to kknow you can score 4/5 times from a corner???? Whoever likes fifa doesnt know anything about how the real life game is played. And if they do they are just lost souls like I was once.

ooooooo...glory to Our Mouther Konami...

get a life...

I think that everybody here knows how football it is in real life...but they stuck to a football game franchise and that's it...would u ask Oasis to sound like Coldplay, 'coz they're the top of top now? let's wait until Oasis release 'the album'...got it?

even why, some controls of FIFA are way more realistic than WE...like the through pass for example...u can control its power in FIFA 2003, but in WE it 'magically' finds ur team mate for u...c'mon...veeeeeeeeeery realistic...OK...

and in FIFA 2k4 ur able to chose what kind of kick u wanna make, with the max power in ur bar...just like in real life...player put their whole strenght on a kick, but they decide the height according to goalie's position...in WE ur only able to chose kick's height by filling the power bar until 1/4 maximum...u cannot kick strong and sliding, like R. Carlos kicks, for example...while ur playing I mean, not in Free Kicks...but in Free Kicks u cannot either...

if u wanna know the true my friend, the ball physics and even kick control from WE for PS1 is more realistic than PS2's.

you can't compare Oasis and Coldplay with fifa and PES, both f coldplay and oasis are good [Oasis are infact much better than good] while PES is brilliant and Fifa's ****e.

u didn't get me...they both play rock, but have different visions of it...none of them are absolute...

I think that EA has a vision for FIFA, and it always meant to turn it more real than cool...while WE is the opposite...but FIFA was always lacky of resources that has always been present on WEleven, since it was ISS on SNES...

somehow, after '98 version, FIFA got lost in a moronism sea...but now, I feel the same...dunno the word...atmosphere present in that historic '98 version...

I think that the adaptation work...a new point of view for FIFA, which is being built, indeed and undeniably since '02 version it is something ya know...'grade by grade'...they can't do changes in an extreme and sudden way, so FIFA will look like WE...btw, WE copied things from FIFA and vice-versa...that's competition....and they also have a 'creative pride'...so, they can't simply 'abracadabra!' and change FIFA...they must and will turn FIFA's gameplay acceptable, but they must conserve their vision...

and please if u want, read this...

"Believe it or not, I'd actually like to talk about how the game feels. FIFA Soccer 2004 probably delivers the best feel and sense of control of any of the games in the series' storied 10-year existence. The ball physics, for starters, are entirely different than in any other game. The team's developers have created a dynamic moving ball with its own physics that enable it to react correctly to every object in the world differently. In the movies you can see it. The ball slows down gradually after being kicked down the field, it gathers velocity when passed along in killer through-passes, and it bounces with real world gravity off people's heads, goal posts, etc. It's not like the ball physics in the other games were horrible, but these are truly improved.

The players show a massive range of moves, and the animations they offer will put a smile on your face. Inexperienced players will find that they may be able to pull off the cool moves, but in a scene that surprised us, one player was dancing around the ball while the defender watched, and then when he made his move, he actually stumbled. The animation was priceless. Hey, not everybody can pull off the best moves in soccer, that's reserved for the crème of the crop."

"In all, FIFA Soccer 2004 was eye-opening in every way. The demo made us hungry to play the next build and we're itching to get our FIFA on this year more than ever before. And then there are those folks who will inevitably ask, "But will it smoke Winning Eleven 7?" Good question. The answer is obviously difficult to tell at this point (since the game isn't done), but a few major points must be made here to clarify.

First, FIFA Soccer 2004 is going to be very good, whatever the competition comes up with; Second, FIFA Soccer 2004 is filled with so many features, soccer fans will be impressed in every territory; Third, the game has been deepened, fiddled with, and enhanced to such an extent that all hardcore soccer fans will be itching, just like we are, to play as soon it hits streets. And Fourth, the music is superb. The gameplay looks deep, the control is nearly spot on, the online play could prove to be ridiculously addicting, and the feature set is more than one could ask for."

it's been a long time since FIFA didn't get a decent review like that, let's be honest...

Fala Brasileiro

To my fellow brazilian, this is to go along with your commentaries about these such loyal WE fans.

Just would like to say, as in my other threads that I love WE's gameplay, but I think they're up for a surprise. Most of you guys that hate FIFA with all your guts will not like EA's FIFA no matter how good the game gets.

It's the power that KCET has to hypnotize you WE lovers to love their game forever. Sorry to say, I like WE, but they have some issues that I won't point out here (go read my threads). Because of that I won't say it's the best footy game ever... that's just pathetic. There won't ever be a best game ever 'cause they'll always improve. I mean, remember those soccer games from the old Master System (first Sega console, I don't know how they were called here or in europe), we thought it was soooo real... c'mon, and look now, how amazing these games have become.

So for all you WE fans, think about your loyalty. Demand real changes from konami. Can they still improve gameplay? Yeah... watch any game and count how many bad passes or ball deflections there are... then count how many there are with WE. There's a place for improvement. To make it more realistic, think guys, and demand from your sooooo loved company.

I'm not criticizing WE, but I'm criticizing you for being sooo gullible and hypnotized.

I'll say it again. Great gameplay by WE. FIFA MIGHT blow us away this year, and there's definetely room for improvement on both games. Especially WE's graphics.

Play looks good when you zoom out, but zoom in and watch close-up animations... definetely a ton of room for improvement. Especially with the stadium fans, who still look like the fans from the old ISS 98. And the banners from fans... they haven't changed since the first ISS. Just look and see.

So, here I am again saying stuff about both games I still haven't played: FIFA '04 and WE7, but I know this fight will never end, because you guys will never ever like FIFA no matter what.

How big is YOUR penis?
For your information, most WE fans used to be FIFA fans. Back then, at about 1993-1994 FIFA series was the best footy simulation on any consoles while Konami`s Fighting Eleven ( which will evolve into WE/PES ), came as second place. EA`s managed to bring excellent ball physics, AI, team management and licenses for those days console`s standards ( SEGA and SNES ). While FE was a weird game with ball that doesn`t bounce and AI`s that was very predictable ( you know it when you wanna score ). EA`s kicks Konami`s ass hard those days. During the course 1998, the competition was tough, FIFA 98 was by far one of the best soccer game of all time, and WE 3 made a big hit all over Asia, despite its lack of licenses. 1998 was a great year for any footy fans, cos` two great games was released, and it was hard to pick which one is the best. Then it happens, for some reason instead of improvin` their products, gameplay wise and graphic wise, EA put more concerns towards eyecandy graphic and licenses for unknown rest of the world teams. FIFA 2000 was probably the worst FIFA ever, the grahics doesn`t have much differences with FIFA 99, but it got laughable AI, stupid GK, and anoyin` repetitive commentators. While Konami improved vastly in terms of gameplay and slightly in graphics. Up until FIFA 2002, EA still think that all players are right footed and only GK are left footed, while ever since 1998 Konami has successfully implement the favourite foot settings, another thing that shows how Konami respond well and know well about the game. In 2002 it`s pretty dull to see a right footed Cafu, sending crosses like a Maradona with his left from a right wing, something we hardly see in real life. In 2003, Danny Isaac promised about total control of the ball, note on word "TOTAL", but yet again as we know it`s impossible to head the ball on our own. He also promised better databases and better accuracy about how different PLAYER`s REAL LIFE PLAYIN` CHARACTERISTICS, but yet again Rivaldo, Davids, famous left footers taken corners and free kicks with their right, all the GK is right footed, all the substitute GK are left footed, and Owen runs slower than old Keown. I don`t need to explain about how players behave in WE 6 and WE 7, cos` we all know about it. It`s true WE didn`t improved much on their gameplay, but consider this, it`s a hard thing to do to improve something that is already near perfection. WE 7 despite it improved quiet a bit in gameplayin`, AI, and animation, also graphics and licenses, they also add the CPU to cheat a little bit, something that I don`t like, and hope will not happen again in the future. And now, the pre-release of FIFA 2004, Isaac promised us the same thing like last year and more. I expected to be real lefties and righties or an improved GK, but no, he gave us something laughable, an individual teeth for every player, defenders that standing still ( from the video ), when a guy make a run into an open space and in ON-SIDE position. It`s true WE has its flaws, FIFA has its own, but comparin` WE 6 flaws to FIFA 2003 flaws, FIFA 2003 delivered more flaws than any footy game ever been ( Heading is a must in any footy games ) . . .

Licenses has always been FIFA`s sellin` point year to year. And gameplay is Konami`s sellin` point year to year. We can all expect that one day there`s a game that sells both with a CM databases and probably with Splinter Cells shadows and lights effect. But it`s very hard for that day to come true.

Fifa has not been good since Road To World Cup 98!!! Since then I think ISS and Pro Evolution games have become better games to play. Fifa 2003 for me was a big dissapointment in terms of gameplay. Shooting felt very artificial (Like you werent in full control of your shots!) Tackling was quite strange and also the game in general felt too irritating to play. Pro Evo 2 was better than Fifa 2003 in terms of gameplay. Graphically Fifa beats Pro Evo games and also official licenses and better commentary. I think Fifa does need to become a bit more like Pro Evo in terms of how it feels when your playing the game. I cant wait for Pro Evo 3 to come out, I might give Fifa 2004 a look and see what its all about but im not expecting much from it.

Hope this helps. :f***:

Oh yeah I forgot to add I dont think Club Football will be particularly good seeing as its Codies first football game. I think if they make more then they could produce a good game. I am not happy with the fact that only Man United & Arsenal have proper kits (in the premiership) on United's game which is annoying!

hey, I'm a Corinthians supporter too, man!!

let's hope and see what Junior and Rivellino are gonna do now...

I'd really love if Corinthians could buy Djalminha and Robson Pontes from Bayern Leverkusen...

and considering that everybody steals up some Corinthians player...I'd love to see Luis Fabiano along with Gil in our attack...

maybe I'll be able to have a team like this in FIFA 2k4...that is, if Corinthians got budget enough in the transfers menu...hehehehe

OK...maybe everybody haver reasons to prefer WE rather than FIFA and that's OK, perfectly understandeable...but it doesn't mean that FIFA will never get there, and it won't make it specially in this 2k4 particular version...

I think that FIFA crew it is working in this version actually, for a long time ago...the big screw which started in '99 version, actually IMO, had to be fixed gradually...specially for the transition to a 32 bit platform to a 128 bit one...I'm pretty sure that Dany and Pierre know about how much we demand from FIFA...and if they keep on promising but won't fullfill it this year, well...they can't their briefcases, fly away, and look like dumbasses...'cos specially this year, they published on Net, a looooooot of thing about FIFA 2k4..they even exposed themselves a lot...they'll be a biiiiiiiiiiig joke if FIFA 2k4 really don't get any close to make it, like the other FIFAs did...

but I don't really think that FIFA 2k3 it's such a crap like that...'coz many features on it are quite more realistic than in WE...like the through pass, for example...u got control of its intensity, while in WE that's automatic, what means unreal...many plays u build up in WE 7 got screwed 'coz the through pass don't workd like u want...even with analog stick...

If u can, please read this interview with Dany Isaac, from FIFA Gederland site:

Q) 1.Can you tell me what new leagues will be added to the FIFA Football 2004

A) We have additional clubs from the Dutch league and have added the Portuguese league for FIFA 2004. All of the top five leagues, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and
England will have their main lower divisions.

Q )2.Please tell me list of new stadiums for FIFA 2004

A) Stamford Bridge (Chelsea - England), Velodrome (Marseille - France), Calderon (Athletico Madrid- Spain) AOL Arena (Hamburg - Germany). We have also added two
training pitches and six new lower division stadiums.

Q) 3.If you can, describe me new gameplay, will it be easy or hard to beat, we all know that in FIFA 2003 you can win 10-0 on world class after playing 1 hour...

A) We've made some significant progress on the CPU AI in FIFA 2004 so it will be tougher. I'd love to meet the person who can beat the CPU 10-0 on world class after only an hours play!

Q) 4.About training mode, can you tell me some options in it.

A) The training mode will be in two unique training environments, and teams will be in training kits. Within training you'll have free play, corner kick practice and free kick practice.

Q) 5.About heading. In FIFA 2003, as you might know we wasn't able to header the ball, will this be improved and tell me more about Heading system in FIFA 2004

A) The heading system has been completely re-written for 2004 and is based on the height of the ball rather than being on another button.

Q) 6.New free kick and corners system- can you tell me more about this, what are the improvements in this way.

A) The corner and freekicks seen from the position of the receiver rather than the kick taker. When in game you have to push past the defender and try to get to the ball before he does. You have the choice of a number of different setpiece formations that can be chosen through the front-end.

Q) 7.About kits, will they be more quality than kits that are in FIFA 2003, and will you use only 1 template or 2-3 templates

A) Each kit is a copy of the real kit that each team wears so we have approximately 900 kits in the game. In FIFA 2004 we have three different types of 'wrinkle' patterns which detail the folds in the kit where in 2003 we only used 1.

Q) 8.Cinematics- I saw in one FIFA 2004 promotion movie new intro and when you score goal- cinematics. Can you tell me will there be MORE cinematics and will they be realistic for some players.

A) There are a number of player specific celebrations. These will be unique to players who have noticeable celebrations, for example Raul. All of the cinematics are new for FIFA 2004.

Hrvoje : Thank you very very much Danny!

Danny : No problem, thanks for your time.

Regards, Danny.
