Fifa World Club Championship

The thread about MLS and CL made me remind of that. Fifa never got to manage the second edition of that would-be-ultimate championship done in 2000. Some time ago I have heard rumour that it would be held in the near future. Does anybody know if Fifa will actually promote it?

Its going to take place in December 2005.

yeah uefa Champion league champ will get a semifinal spot aswell as Copa libertadores Champ

i dont know how the other play offs would work

i think maybe a team from Africa , Asia , North America and Oceania my guess will do the play offs.

It will be less complicated than I thought. There will be no schedule problems (only two games for Europe-SA at maximum). When the clubs in AFC-CAF-CONCACAF-OFC get more competitive, we will see a really nice. The only doubt is about Mexico: qualify through CONCACAF (easier and geographically correct) or by Libertadores (a lot more representative)?

basically it's another Intercontinental Cup, cuz the finals will be the Euro champs and libertadores champ

But now that theres a spot up for grabs in the CONCACAF Champions Cup to play in this big money paying tournament you'll see Mexican clubs actually trying to win that sh*tty CONCACAF Cup.

I got no clue who in ASia , AFrica and Oceania.

and Libertadors still undecided




i hope this is the format of how they are choosing the teams

Actually, the 04/05 CL winner should represent Europe, since it's in Dec. 2005.

i think this competition is gonna be great, maybe Champion cup will grow even better (televised) :P , Asian teams and Africans will be good competitors aswell

Yea, this is the right way to do it.

South America v Europe wasen't a true world champ.

On any given day, any team can shock another.

Edilson putting the ball between Karembeu's legs to score for Corinthians against Real Madrid...
Vasco thrashing Man Utd 3-0...
and obviously Corinthians beating Vasco on PK...

not as good as seeing Liverpool win the league, but very nice anyways....

or how bout Beckham getting sent off for kicking that Mexican player from Necaxa in the nuts. Or Necaxa beating Real Madrid in penalties (and Mexicans suck at penalties) and winning the 3rd place game.
