It's not about the brightness, it's about the contrast.
The black has no highlights, it's too flat.
There's hardly any texture underneath the colour.

That's funny when I watched this kit on my parents computer this weekend I could see the shades and the kit looked really good. Now I'm behind my own computer and I see what ChRisA and Mauro mean, it's all black.

The kit looks great, I think it depends what colour profile you have on your monitor settings which affects what things look like.
