3. Use the R2 button when shooting, to hit it low. Though it won't work, again, if you're shooting off balance.

4. I use the d-pad for direction and shooting. If you're using the analogue stick, when shooting, the ball tends to lose speed and loop left or right more.

5. Try shooting off 1-2's, make it a first touch shot.
1st off, thanks :) Now, a few questions:

3) Do you mean hold the R2 button while shooting? Or can you actually shoot with the R2 button? Haven't been able to do the latter.

4) Any particular time when it is better to use one or the other? I.e. when it is worth the loss of velocity to get more curve. I assume you're not referring to set pieces.

5) I can see why you would want to do that...but wouldn't that be very innaccurate unless you were very close to the goal?

Thanks for your help :rockman:

3. No, you can NOT shoot with the R2 button itself -.-;;

4. Well, it applies for both regular shooting and freekicks.

hmm, having used the d-pad for most everything in the game. Not exactly sure when using one or the other may be better.

I know japanese friends who are just masters at WE6 [not WE6i].
When I first played the game, I used the analogue stick too. But they told me to switch to the d-pad. Ever since, I think it works just fine.

Anyway for instance, taking a freekick, holding down on the anolague stick would make the ball loop quite a bit over the wall.
This may be good for really close range freekicks. Try doing this with the d-pad, you'll notice it loops far less and is faster.
Or sometimes, when taking a freekick with becks, I just aim really right and add extra curve, just for the sake of it [heck it looks cool]

Personally, I think keepers tend to catch slow & "more curving" shots as to the fast & less curving shots. Goalies being the cpu, probably knows if your shot would be on target or not. So, trying to trick a goalie with a extra curve shot should not be that effective, as it is in real life. Most likely, the goalie has already started in the direction the shot is being taken. Extra curve and less speed just gives them more time to react. IMO

5. Inaccurate, it may be. But it is more likely to hit low hard shots that, at least, do not sail over the goal.

For those still waiting for your copy, take a look at www.showusmiracle.com. You will be in awe at what you can do with this game. All the goals were made by good passing and individual skill, just like in real life. My personal favorite is veron's goal from his own half, what vision!

Sure you can shoot like that! I have made plenty of free kicks for goals like that.

Well it looks like quite a few people were not overly impressed by the game, but I am sure if most of those who said their expectations were met only halfway could vote again they would give a better vote. This is because this game can be a real pain during the first 20 or so games. It is extremely frustrating. Especially when u play friendlies and do really well and then u enter into a cup or something and all of a sudden the computer becomes superhuman.
Anyway, Ive been missing for quite a while, cos I had to travel to Minneapolis on Friday to pick up the game since there is no Toysrus in the town I live, and I stayed over there during the weekend. I started out on level 3 and belive me I am still playing on level 3. I cant believe that there is a level higher than 3. I mean the world class level on FIFA will be level 2 on this game, cos I do better on FIFA world class than I do on level 3. I won my first game 2-0 mainly because I used Brazil against Tunisia. I gradually increased the difficulty of the teams and when I felt comfortable I decided to go for the International cup. Big mistake, I couldnt get past the group stage. I then went into some intense training, finished the various challenges and gave up cos i couldnt complete the King challenge. Now I felt I was ready, and mind you all this took place between Friday and Sunday night. Now I get into the International cup again, using Argentina ( I realised Brazil wasn't that good in the game). I get to the quarter finals and I lose to Italy. I try again and win in Overtime. I beat Germany 2-1 in the semis and now I face Cameroon in the final. I figue, this is going to be a walkover, u know. Its Cameroon. Well, I was wrong. They beat me 4 times in a row, all close games, before I seriously reconsider my formation, do a bit of man-marking and for the first time use the various in-game strategies with L2and various buttons. They score me first, I equalise in the 85th minute, and I get through with Crespo to score in the 90th minute. As soon as I score, I change my formation to 5-4-1, fearing the worst. Lucky for me the referee stops the game as soon as the Cameroonians pass the ball. VICTORY.........................

Its the best game dudes...cheers

maestro, I couldn't agree more. To really play well and beat the computer consistently at higher levels, you must be adept at controlling the player with the ball, and on the strategy aspect of the game as well. Take the example of playing a wing. At the beginning, I would run as quickly as possible towards the corner, cross the ball and hope for the best. But after awhile, you learn to look at the radar to see where your teammates are located, and cross the ball at the appropriate strength accordingly. When counter-attacking, if you see one of your forwards running towards goal with only one or two defenders around him, you cross the ball early to take advantage of the extra space. I still remember in awe the goal I scored when I played asenal vs liverpool. I was 2-1 down and deep into injury time. Arsenal was on the counter-attack, and Bergkamp was running down the left wing, mid-way into liverpool's half. I saw Henry scorching towards goal with a defender trailing, eating dust. I whipped an early ball into the penalty box. In one glorious moment, Henry took the ball down with his right foot, and with his left rolled the ball underneath the keeper towards the far-post. I have never felt so exhilarated with a draw, believe me! That was the first time I felt how good this game could be, and I am still playing. The match was played in we2002 on the psone.
